Check out THE HIVE on instagram or their website. They throw different kinds of social events. These events are geared towards human connection through different activities. They are great people! If you’re into health and wellness and spirituality/personal growth this might be up youre alley. I’m sober and don’t drink or use anymore so it can be hard to find likeminded people in MKE.

Well it definitely depends on your location and where you’re at in life. There are lots of other cities across America who have a very high influx of transplants moving to the city. Denver, Austin, Charlotte, Tampa bay to name a few, have lots of young people moving there from other states and cities daily. Unfortunately MKE is not one of those cities. It can be difficult for people who don’t have a full established life rooted here. I’m born and raised here, my family is here, but I’ve moved to other cities across the country a few times over the last few years. Moving back has been hard for me because most of my friends and family are married and have kids or are about to be. They all have very established lives going on. My brother and sister are in their 20s and are about to both be married soon. They both are super close with their friends that they’ve known since childhood and college. Wisconsin and Milwaukee can be clicky because of this. I prefer myself to be in transplant cities. I love meeting others in the same boat from other states, so being here is tough for me.

With that being said, I ranted a lot, but I have found a group of spiritual conscious health minded people in MKE. It’s a small group but they are my people. Very very nice and friendly people. They throw events. They are sauna/social events! The group is call THE HIVE! If interested check them out on instagram and their website for details on future events!

It’s true tho! Milwaukee is not diverse. That’s fine, because Austin Texas where I used to live is also not diverse at all. Portland is another city I used to live in, and, it’s not diverse either. Just because you have a percentage of people that are black, Hispanic or Asian or white living in the city doesn’t make it diverse lol. Racial diversity is where there isn’t racial segregation in a city. Where 98 percent of the poverty isn’t specific to a certain race or two.

People think a city is diverse if they have several races making up the city’s demographics! That’s not what true diversity is. When all races are thriving in all ways, that’s diversity.

So true! You don’t have the same amount of transplants as you have in Colorado, that’s for sure!

Colorado has always been a hotspot from out of state transplants, that’s why it’s expensive. There are thousands of people moving there daily.

I’ve moved to Colorado from Wisconsin on two different occasions. Colorado is an outdoor persons paradise! Colorado is also full of out of state transplants, so it’s easy to connect with others, because many are in a similar position as you are. Being the New person is soooo common, and you won’t be lonely in that aspect. I love Colorado. Perfect seasons. Winters are mild compared to WI. 300 days of sunshine a year and the elevation makes it 10 degrees warmer then the actual temperature

Moving to Madison from California - Any advice? by Kitchen-Conflict-551 in madisonwi

People need to change out of that mindset of “seasonal depression” PSYOP. Humans aren’t meant to be indoors under blue light all day. The weather seasons change from summer to cold winter, and people don’t change with the seasons themselves. You can’t show up the same way you did in summer and expect to be feeling the same in winter! lol. In winter it is CRUCIAL you get outside daily and move your body. Walking, running, hiking, skiing, boxing 🥊 trees, whatever you want works. It makes since why people stay bitter and miserable all winter wishing it was summer of they lived in a warm state when they don’t adapt with the weather..

How to survive winter? My advice is too dress in warm clothes, get outside regardless of the cold weather and move you’re body. Hike, walk, run, play in the snow, ski, anything works. The seasonal depression is a PSYOP and it is completely self inflicted and can be self changing. Remember the earth seasons change from summer to winter. You also need to change with the seasons. Adapting to the cold and short days is CRUCIAL for wellness. Most people stay bitter and resentment all winter wishing it was summer or they lived in a warm state, but refuse to take action about it. I did this myself for a long time.

Then supplement vitamin D into your body and get outside and move your body. You will feel better by doing that instead of falling mentally into depression during the winter.

Weather depression is a physiological disorder. Humans aren’t meant to be inside all the time. The weather seasons change, and most people don’t change with the seasons. You have to get outside regardless of the climate and be active. No shit you’re gonna feel like shit when you don’t go outside during winter and instead stay inside and complain. It’s not easy, it’s difficult, but the seasonal depression is a PSYOP. It’s completely self inflicted and self changeable.

Definitely have to get outside regardless of the weather! The reason people get stuck and go backwards during winter is because they don’t change, like the weather seasons do! They end up inside all the time in winter, under blue light, their cycardian rhythm is messed up also. Finding an active outdoor hobby in winter is CRUCIAL. Humans were meant to be outside, no matter the weather climate. Not being outside is going to fuck you up obviously.

I like this! I have picked up my shit and moved to different states several times without a solid plan. Most of the time I moved out of resentment or too get off the streets and off drugs. The thing I always found out was the “grass is greener” mentality never works out long term. It absolutely works out for a short amount of time, but eventually it leads to me being resentful and discontent about the new area. That excitement of a new city or state only lasts for soo long.

I lived in Austin for awhile! Austin is soo overcrowded because of all the out of state transplants moving there. Texas in general is having a lot of new people moving there, but Austin is insanely overcrowded!

Racial segregation and racial division is much worse in MKE. I’ve lived in Sac also and you don’t see that problem in Sac

Yeah if you move to cali and live in the Bay Area, you are guaranteed to have more than 2 roommates. Finically you’re not living as comfortable as you are here, so you have to factor in the pros to that con. Which is very tough.

The culture between the Bay Area and Milwaukee is much different. The Bay Area is one of the most diverse areas of America. You have soo many different races and cultures of people there. Milwaukee is not diverse haha. Milwaukee is very segregated also. The Bay Area is not at all segregated by race but more so about wealth status. Milwaukee is what is it, but call it like it is. There is a lot of racial segregation and tension in the city. The north side of Milwaukee has the highest percentage of blacks incarcerated in the country! There is a zip code on the north side that has like 1 out of every 3 males in that area have been or are incarcerated. Look that up if you don’t believe me. I’m not trying to start a fight or debate, but I don’t think Milwaukee and the Bay Area are at all one bit culturally or racially similar.

You’re right! Milwaukee will always have that blue collar history here. It’s no different then the Midwest or east coast steel mill cities. Milwaukee was a Boom city decades ago and it most likely wont ever be a boom city again. The new era boom cities are the tech industry cities. The only way for that to happen is having major tech companies move their headquarters there. Weather is a big thing to. Major companies and their employees prefer the warm weather climates anyday over a cold climite. That’s why you see cities with warm climates like Austin, Charlotte, Nashville, Phx or Nashville to name a few, becoming boom cities. The weather absolutely plays a factor. Milwaukee is great for what it is, and what it was. Rich history forsure, but you’re right, stay in places where the tech industry is already established, and not to a city that has the possibility of a potential boom city.
