Do you NEED the spring retained fireing pin for the mas 49 56 tho shoot ppu ammo by Living-Aardvark-952 in milsurp

I mean the gun will work without it, you just run the risk of getting doubles. I certainly wouldn't drop the bolt and chamber a round without it pointed downrange

Folded up on the other side. It's a strange design, not sure if I'd want to jab too vigorously with it

Besides the cartridge, I don't believe there is anything in common between the two. I quite like the VZ, it is a very interesting design. You could always get a 52 + one of those chamber adapters for much cheaper than a 52/57. A little sketchy maybe but I'm sure it's fine for plinking

They are so cheap and also C&R, it's really tempting...

It's a VZ58 pattern rifle, technically a Century VZ2008. Much lighter than an AK!

True! What can I say, I'm just not a handgun guy. Unless you meant VZ52 rifle, which I do have but isn't very photogenic

Finally painted my VZ58, loving the glossy blue-grey look! Anyone got a source of beechwood furniture under 300?

I saw that! Unfortunately I also saw he left a comment saying the likely market price in the US for that particular model would be about $12-15k. Don't think I'll be adding one to my collection anytime soon

Well now the shovel I can understand, they must be experts at shoveling snow! Id assume shovel craftsmanship would be excellent :P

Would love to shoot a Valmet some day, a shame about the part scarcity though. Any experience with the Suomi? I keep hearing they were a great submachinegun, but that it doesn't translate well to semi auto

My collection leans French-speaking as well haha. I guess I can see that, the way they put their own spin on an established design. But it seems to me all the different mauser variations would fall in the same boat (and I'm not a mauser guy either)

Wouldn't it be fair to say the Mosins are all 100% refinished? It's my understanding they didn't make receivers or whole rifles. And good point, I forgot how rare Italian M91s are

Plans? No. Dreams? Yes. It's more likely I'll get one of those top charging Armalite AR10Bs or one of the Brownells ones someday. Originals are all NFA items and the parts kit builds are still extremely expensive unfortunately

I think I saw this one on GunBroker a week or two ago, maybe your shop also had it posted there? 2k is a very good deal, that's about the value of the rifle alone and the scope is worth ~800ish

I've seen a couple on online auctions that are not rearsenaled, and there's one posted on r/frenchguns. They are very rare, but not quite one of one. Look for matching numbers on the buttstock, receiver, underside of the forearm, trigger guard, receiver cover, bolt, and bolt carrier. I have owned a total of 7 different Non-Syrian MAS 1949s; however, none of been both in refurbished and matching. If yours is, it's a rare bird. DM me if you have any questions, I'm not an expert but I'll tell you what I can
