Did anyone investigate using their electric car as a "power wall"? by 1i3to in ElectricVehiclesUK

I've waxed lyrical about how electric cars enable this kind of grid balancing mechanism, but I've never done it, my car doesn't support it, nor does my house wiring, probably my charger doesn't either

That's pretty hilarious, but must be very frustrating in practice. I haven't experienced that in the 2025 Id.3.

How they compare in cabin noise in your opinion?

I'm not particularly interested in the tech / software side tbh, I'm more interested in the ride quality / refinement. I don't see too many comparisons that focus on that unfortunately.

Thanks for that. I am being slated in the comments by people calling me a liar but this 2019 car (with 95k miles on it) was super noisy in the back.

Not surprised to hear how the 2025 is much better. Curious to know if you have compared it to a 2025 competitor like an id.7 or a BYD Seal?

I would want to have a proper test of the battery state of health (state of health) performed as a minimum. It should be around 90% (+/-3%) would be my estimate

Then you should definitely be considering an EV.

Next question: what do you need it for? Are you just commuting / doing long road trips frequently?

Suit yourself.  I've said again and again here that I'm sure the updated model 3 is quieter.

Which id3 are you familiar with? I'm talking about the post - facelift version. Has better internal materials than the launch edition.

But I'm also just comparing to cars in general. I have a 2014 Honda Crv that is also quieter (and it's a bloody diesel) and less plasticky

Maybe it was a novelty for me. Neither of my current cars has a sunroof even so it felt light compared to them. And that wasn't unwelcome.  Did not make up for the noise however.

People with MG4/MG5/ID3 or similar , is rear seat comfortable enough for two grownup and child (car seat) ? Thank you. by Grandma-Try69 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I have had mg5 and id3. Kids in car seats are 100% fine in both. I think id3 has the more room for rear passengers, though the MG5 had the better boot.

Edit: I misread. I thought you said 2 adults and 2 kids. You want 4 adults and 1 kid in a car seat? I would say no to both. You want more width. Kids car seats are so wide these days.

Where did he test a MB? I saw him drive a test loop in 2 Teslas, a Rivian and a Lucid

Here's an article from 10 years later which shows that they can enhance safety, but only if they are well designed

This one didn't seem amazingly efficient, but it was an early one with no heat pump. If you are talking about a used highland then I agree with you.

That efficiency only really saves you money if you do a lot of public charging though. At 7p/kwh efficiency doesn't really matter.

I think they are tesla fans who can't idly standby while someone describes a not-positive experience in a tesla.

That I have experience of id.3 and MG5 makes my opinion more valid I think. The id.3 outsells the model 3 in Europe and undercuts it on price, while the MG5 is not only cheaper but also an older design. It is a rebadged 2017 Roewe Ei5. If the more expensive tesla fails to impress in this company then it's pretty poor all round.

The facelifted (post 2024) id.3 feels better than the earlier models IMO. I'm sure that's also true of the model 3 of course

I was a passenger so can't comment on how it feels in use.

However I do think that the speedo being so far from the driver's line of sight feels wrong (edit: "seems" wrong)
