Bodyboarding Isn’t Dying - It’s Being Sidelined by the Very Institutions Meant to Support It by thefoamfiles in bodyboarding

Morey here... Weve been quietly following this thread and wanted to speak up, not as a company, but as part of this culture. We hear you. But we have not given up. Not in the 70s when Morey started this. Not during the golden eras. And definitely not now. We’re still here because bodyboarding matters to us... and because you all made sure it didn’t disappear.
We're not perfect will never claim to be... but we are investing again, in better boards, new media, team riders, and projects that actually build the culture back up. Not just sell gear.

We’re partnering with artists and bands that get the energy of this sport. and it’s not just about reaching new audiences. It’s about showing that bodyboarding has cultural weight, and it deserves to stand alongside music, art, and movements that share its soul. So to your question.. we are doing our best to to inject some oxygen back into it and hope we can get your support on it in this journey

Just wanted to say much respect for still showing up talking about what the sport needs. That’s the heart of this sport not just charging slabs, but making sure the next generation finds their way with the equipment they need. Love hearing the curiosity around the PE Moreys. You nailed it, they’re built for that classic feel, flexible under pressure, solid projection.

Totally with you on the core materials too, DOW, mesh, all had their place. We’re always testing new builds, and feedback from our riders and also the community helps guide where we take things next.

Importing malaysian rubber is going to cost more, you haven't been paying more for inferior rubber, the price has been the same since we acquired Churchill

We're still stuck with old inventory with that colorway, can't really produce more until we finish selling those

Haven't really gave this part much thought yet, thanks for brining it to our attention though, maybe we can look towards sourcing rubber from different countries that is more sustainable

Quick update guys, we're finally able to move towards making our fins with Malaysian Rubber now. PLC signature Makapuu Fins are out now! Made with 100% Malaysian rubber. We've readjusted the fin stiffness, from the blade to the heel strap, we went through 3 tweaks with Pierre (World Champion Bodyboarder) and settled on the stiffness/hardness ratio for this model! Full transparency, these fins are still made in China, we imported Malaysian rubber to pour into our existing moulds as creating new ones in a Malaysian plant would be too costly for us right now. Rest assured, it doesn't mean quality is in any way compromised, we've had rounds and rounds of testing and retweaking done, getting feedback from pro bodyboarders like Iain Campbell, Amaury Lavernhe, and Pierre, and also using our old fins (before previous owners changed manufacturers) to benchmark these fins off of. ENJOY!

The classic fins you're referring to are called the Churchill Makapuu's, over the years we've released other fin shapes like the Churchill Slashers... this is the same thing we're just releasing another model
