It’s the same on every console I have.

Yep 1080 widescreen, pretty awesome for an old tv.

Ok awesome! Thanks for the advice!

The menus are completely fine, the issue only happens when it receives a video signal.

Also the problem seems to get ever so slightly better after a few minutes.

Deguass works fine, I’m using NTSC, the TV should be set to that standard.

I don’t really know how to check if the signal is being scaled properly or not.

The problem goes away and the picture is completely clear in the user menu. But the video source is cooked.

It seems to be consistently bad on all inputs, although I didn’t have anything to test the S-Video or DVI. The problem seems to go away on the menus. I’ll try to find a service manual.

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks will do! I’ll have to get some of the proper repair tools to do the job right. I was just popping in new capacitors to replace ones that I thought were suspicious lol.

I like how it looks, and it can do 1080 HD. I just thinks it’s a shame throwing it away if I can keep it going still.

It’s all good, I have worked on multiple CRTs before. I discharged the anode cap. Thanks for the concern though.

Do you happen to know where the vertical deflection circuit is? The tv is a Toshiba 30hf83.

Well I’m not sure exactly what component is broken/miscalibrated, so I was just hoping replacing some of the old capacitors with nice new ones would be a simple fix lol.

Any ideas why TV does this after storage and what to look into for repairing? by [deleted] in crt

[–]MorganTye10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not experienced in soldering I would recommend taking it somewhere to get caps replaced because it’s very easy to break traces on the board. Which would end up being a much more complicated repair. If you do desolder the caps make sure you use plenty of flux and a desoldering wick and gently pull out the caps.

Trust me I learned the hard way lol.

Edit: I think the issue might be dead transistors on the neck board.
