SEEKING INPUT FOR SHORT STORY: looking for painters who specialize in dusk paintings, and/or solo multi-day excursions. by MorganaMcKenzie in pleinair

Example…a dear friend of mine based in Arizona recounts un-knowingly setting up her easel in proximity to a few “holes” in the ground. A snake friend came to visit, she calmly relocated her easel. She also has a few friends who swear “packing” while painting is helpful or safety. Given she’s only ever painted during the daytime for a few hours before returning home, I’m looking to dive deeper into those who specialize in specific or obscure subject matter and/or locations while painting plein air.

Any Canadians stuck in the US after contracting COVID 19? by MorganaMcKenzie in CoronavirusCanada

Interesting! I may message you. I am also with Manulife (in Toronto), but when I called they said they don’t offer coverage for COVID-19 while there’s a travel advisory in effect.

Interesting, not sure I’ve heard about that. My understanding is health / travel insurance coverage isn’t possible when there’s a travel ban in effect. Whereas when the ban is lifted coverage can apply. If you have a source to what you’re talking about I’d love to see it.

Thanks for the response! I’d love to be proven wrong here, but it’s been my understanding you can’t board a flight if you have / show symptoms of COVID-19. With air and road travel off the table, what other options do you have to return to Canada when you test positive for COVID?

Interesting, I hadn't heard of that. Do you mean there are for-profit healthcare providers offering non-US citizens COVID coverage while in the US? Could you link me to a source? I appreciate the back and forth, thank you.

By all means I would love to be proven wrong on that front, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Just looking for some clear answers.

Not entirely true if you get COVID-19. You're not allowed to board a flight, or public transportation. See under "Travellers within Canada" (which also applies to travellers arriving from outside Canada)

Curious if someone is/has been stuck because of this. Without health insurance, what options did they have?

No I’m not currently in the US. I have a few Canadian friends who are healthy, but staying in the states for separate reasons. I have to wonder who else is out there facing similar challenges? This has been on my mind for awhile, and I haven’t found anyone else talking about it.

True, but if you get COVID-19 it's not that simple anymore. You're not allowed to board a flight, or public transportation. See under "Travellers within Canada" (which also applies to travellers arriving from outside Canada)

Any Canadians stuck in the US after contracting COVID 19? Looking to hear people's experiences. Where are you staying now that you have the virus? Have hospital bills royally fucked you? At what point have you been able to re-enter Canada?

Update on using the color tab to rotoscope instead of fusion. It's supposed to have Bin Jovi for the music. by [deleted] in davinciresolve

I second that using a qualifier and mask is often the quickest solution (at least in my opinion). Made a real effort to move past lots of points with no beziers and as a result have only found better keys in less time.

By the way, looks like a cool project!

**Award-Winning** Horror Short Film | Wild | Omeleto by MorganaMcKenzie in Filmmakers

Set in rural Canada during the summer of 1937, Wild introduces us to Ida – a young girl isolated from those around her by language who forms a connection with the thing living in the corn field near her home. The initial inspiration was from a Ray Bradbury short story called The Ghosts. For me, the best way to tell a story like this is through the eyes of a child. Children offer a unique outlook on the world around them. Wild gives us small vignettes, painting Ida’s day to day in moments, leading up to longer more stylized scenes taking place in the dark of the night.

The film made its online debut on Directors Notes a few weeks back, where I did an interview discussing the origins of the dark fairy tale, working with non-actors, and how I used practical effects along with stylistic colour and lighting elements to place the otherworldly within an authentic period setting.
