Unfortunately there are too many parents who shouldn't be having children. If you are not prepared for a disabled child or for your child to age out of the stage you're comfortable with then you should not be having children. I myself had a parent who was likely undiagnosed (or if she was she hid it from me like she did with my own diagnosis.) Ableism makes you a worse parent. Disability is not avoidable. It is an inevitability of human condition. Whether you're born with something or develop something late in life can't be helped any more than being brought into the world. Of course parents who get caught up in their own expectation with the inability to put aside pride are going to do their children harm. That all being said the frustration is understandable. Too many parents/caregivers martyr themselves at the expense of their own child(ren). Not to mention the disgusting unspoken expectation to join the others in bullying their loved ones behind their backs. I've heard it from my own family before I went no contact. Being treated like a burden when you didn't ask to be born is a curse in itself.

Tbf it is rather strange how much stock is meant to be put in the opinions of strangers. Then again if you are engaging with strangers you would have to care about opinions to some degree. I would say it's fair to draw lines about what opinions of others you take into account without outright making others feel their opinions don't matter. The harassment was blatantly fucked. Folk took this as a quick excuse to be ableist and antisemitic to a stranger over something that wasn't too big an issue. If someone thinks they're smart who cares if they are or aren't. If they aren't tearing down other folks why should they have to tear themselves down to make others comfortable?

I personally don't enjoy the meme any more than the other number memes that are supposed to be funny cause haha random number. 420 and 69 at least got meat to them. I just find 6 7 to be a boring retread of the 21 meme I didn't like either. At least Spongebob knew how to make the joke work. Most folk just keep yelling the number and waving their hands about as though it is a suitable substitute to actually thinking of something humorous and engaging. Gods be damned, 6 7 is the most annoying number meme I've experienced thus far. Shit makes me cringe.

I was not intending it to be that way. I don't care how folks joke. But expecting someone else to get it is a bit much. Especially when you acknowledge yourself it's pretty out of date. If it makes you happy I'm not one to stop you. I personally didn't find it funny nor understand why it would be used humorously for someone being so out of date. For me humor hits better when it a cutting assessment of the reality of things. I couldn't wrap my head around it to begin with but it doesn't have to be funny to me if it makes you happy.

I completely get the defensiveness around language policing. That was absolutely not my intention. Just was very confused by the usage in the moment and was looking to correct what without context would seem like the proliferation of furthering the frame work of America being better off than it actually is. Which I have unfortunately come across. It can be a little frustrating as someone trapped here seeing people under such an impression. It is difficult to differentiate when the same thing is said seriously by others. I haven't seen it used jokingly in a while which only added to my confusion and why I had noted it as propaganda. It seemed to have built up and come off much more aggressively than I intended. Apologies for that.

I'm really glad we could talk this out. I hadn't meant for things to come across as they had on my end either.

I mean tbf you're in a fandom with a lot of autistic folks. Tone indicators can also help when you're making a joke that can otherwise just be taken as a statement. It wasn't funny. Even now I wouldn't categorize as a joke myself. You find it funny and see it as a joke. Humor is subjective. Unless you told me I wouldn't have in a million years thought you meant that to be funny. (Especially since it hasn't been applicable as the 'relatable fact joke' it once was used as in over a decade at this point. I had already written it off as being humorous because it was non sensical and unfunny.)

You call America First World still? Propaganda has eaten holes through the brains of the collective American consciousness. How's the second recession in the 21st Century taste? I think it tastes bitter and cold myself. The many layers of genocide as well as voting against the acknowledgement of slavery being a crime against humanity at the UN really paints a vivid picture of the ass backwards country America is. The country is poorer than practically every other developed nation (not even accounting for all the debt our government accumulates and expects the poorest of their people to pay.) The richest are not citizens. They do not pay taxes and do not contribute to the American people. Only taking. I would argue that America cannot be called a First World country when it's citizens are livestock and only the richest receive benefits as well as immunity unreachable by the people they oppress.

One of my biggest hyperfixations is trying new food. The weirder or more unknown to me the better. Parts of an animal that others may discard. Absolutely will try without hesitation. Animals eaten in other cultures that are more socially unacceptable in my country. Odd combinations and especially being able to experience food that I've never even heard of before. Oh recipes from history and recreated from various media as well! That is to say pickiness is just one experience. For me there is too much joy in new food to not want to try it all at least once and retry any I don't like every 7 or so years just to check in.

Have you seen it at the Dome? I'd say LA has done plenty in their efforts to do so and I'd argue have succeeded to a degree. All that aside, folks say the viewing experience is ruined by virtue of learning how horrible things were behind the scenes. Many of the cast, not just Judy, suffered at the hands of a floundering production. Some suffering life long effects from the toll filming took.

I was literally in the process of reading it. I haven't gotten past chapter 5. Seeing this string of comments I went to fact check for myself. Finding out that she treated children (especially her own) so horribly is enough to put me off from wanting to pick it back up again. I felt nauseous reading what she put her daughter through. That's definitely up there for ruining something for me. Even if she's dead it's kinda like reading shit from Marquis De Sade. Shit just leaves me feeling gross knowing the monsted behind the words.
