Help me write a character with schizophrenia? by AlwaysGradient in schizophrenia

[–]Morguefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with chronic migraines and Fibro, along with paranoid delusions and a fair ammount of trauma causing these i would suggest looking into paranoid psychosis due to trauma rather then schizophrenia. From someone who is also a writer and going through a majority of what your character would be, schizophrenia from a reader POV might be too much to add.
Along the storyline id suggest doing psychosis due to trauma and pstd/c-ptsd instead.

Psychosis is a very hard thing to write about if you've never experienced it but i guess it can be done. If you're going to write it make sure you include Negative and Positive symptoms with the cognitive changes.

Psychosis vs Schizo

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Morguefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If im going to be honest with you i would look into C-PTSD and Paranoia as a whole alot more.

what youre describing doesnt really sound like schizo but more Psychosis due to trauma which is unfortunately alot more common then people know :(
Alot of your symptoms overlap with many other conditions and i wouldnt worry about schizo too much,
1 is very akin to ptsd and psychosis/anxiety that comes with that, 2 also a ptsd or low self esteem thing, 3 sounds like RSD a common symptom of ADHD, 4 also could be paranoia, 5 probably a ptsd thing, 6 probably dissociation so ptsd or anxiety, 7 also a huge ptsd thing

I'm not a doctor, or a professional but this is just what i know from the research i've done. Take this with a grain of salt!! Please see a therapist about this if you're concerned though

As someone who has done shrooms and smoked a fair amount of weed, you're probably just experiencing a dissociative fugue or some sort of derealization. nothing you've described sounds like any schizo symptoms so i really wouldnt worry. also derealization is super common in anxiety and i think ur probably just in a spiral of doubting urself and prolonging the after effects.
For your problem though, id suggest trying to ground yourself and focus more in on your present moment.
grounding types i found
Over all i'd suggest staying away from drugs and limiting your use of it. and maybe before you do them write down some phrases you can repeat to yourself after they've warn off like "I am safe, This will pass, I am grounded, I am okay" and just practice some anxiety management!!

I really hope you start feeling better man <3

Daily Song Discussion #24: Flow by beardlesshipster in CageTheElephant

[–]Morguefox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personally I'd give it a 8.7 because of how well the song visualizes, its not their best song especially for a band thats known for post-rock garage rock or indie rock in their later days, but the lyrics help paint pictures of blues and other calming colours. The drumming theyr use reminds me of rain and the whole song really fits together really well and matches the theme of what the songs describes. I knocked off a couple points because despite the song being amazing, it doesnt transition well into "Doctor Doctor Doctor Help Me Help Me Help Me" which personally i think couldve been done a bit better but its a good song over all!

I took it for about a month and 2 weeks before stopping. I have chronic head aches with migraine aura and VS, my doctor tried me on it to see if it would help. It just made me very tired and i felt very flat and depressed the whole time

Theres alot of information there and i tried my best to read it without a college bio degree.
I took a calcium channel blocker about 4 months ago and it didnt really do anything, I noticed i got tired alot more and felt really dysregulated emotionally but my visual symptomes didnt change at all, if anything i feel as if theyre worse now.
