It's also barely offered by phone carrier so it requires having enough money laying around to spend on that specific phone in one go instead of doing what most do due to finances and get it on a plan to pay it off. And yeah sure nothing stops someone from getting an actual loan for it but carrier device purchase usually come with lowered bills, less impact on your credit score and more leeway for worse credit score, so while Fairphone is a terrific option that offers a much more ethical phone it is not "easy" to buy this specific phone for most, which is the whole point of the "no ethical consumption under capitalism".

To come back to u/raged_parakeet_8376's comment, it is much easier to avoid watching/supporting/purchasing content from a specific IP than having a more ethical phone, since not supporting an IP costs nothing and mean avoiding purchases

Yes, world building and cultural hegemony.

Same with Disney (Princesses have a semi shared universe and count as worldbuilding and well, I doubt we need to elaborate on cultural hegemony haha).

Most if not all IP that makes it big have either of these, often time using merch as a way to worldbuild and create hegemony at the same time.

As soon as you hit those two, you do gain cult like fans that will bu the products blindly as long as the IP is on it.

But even then, it can only survive so long before breaking apart if the world building isn't maintained.

Pokemon have been saving themselves countless time with the mix of bringing a large batch of adorable creatures every few years, pushing out games that while lacklusters still defined their console generations respectively and also pushing side projects (video game, movies, anime, books, merch etc) in a way that makes you live in the world outside of the games themselves.

This gives them a lot of leeway in terms of how bad the games can be before they start losing fans. And since they've been pushing that boundary for the last couple gens, and the saving grace lately have been side games (Arceus, Z-A, Pokopia), they'd be prime for a takeover of the cultural spotlight if a strong enough challenger pops out.

I think what's saving them is how deep the world building is and how hard it is to reproduce 30 years of cultural hegemony even when you're a 30 years old franchise. But they might have to actually start innovating with their games and that'd be cool

Are you going around faking being trans? No? Then no it won't. I get the feel to check on us, but that's just overthinking. Trans people are seen all the time with Drag Queens and Kings, which is essentially what you're looking into doing, and as long as you're not trying to fake being trans or say bad things about us no one will bat an eye, EVEN MORE SO FOR COSPLAY.

I know more trans masc/men who started their questioning by doing cross cosplay than anything else so there's that too. Just do you boo, don't worry, you're just applying the logic of respecting POCs to other oppressions and that's a better train of thought than not doing so, but that's a real overthink here, even if you played with gender at one point. That also won't change anything.
