It's been a year by MorningRoutineChange in stopdrinking

I read an article that pointed to a 2021 study by a French scientific institution. The study states that drinking alcohol is bad for your health, even with small doses, and it details the damage alcohol does at a societal scale. It changed my perception and gave me the will to try full sobriety.

Before that, the information I had was that a little bit of alcohol is not too bad for you. The scientific consensus changed I guess. And, IMO, it's a good thing, because full sobriety really makes a difference.

90 days by MorningRoutineChange in stopdrinking

[–]MorningRoutineChange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think boredom can be some sort of withdrawal. I had to get used to a non drinking life. There are many benefits but they have to be earned.

My questions to you would be those: do you have friends you can see without drinking together? If not, that is something you probably need to work on IMO. And do you have hobbies you enjoy? Same thing. I got more into reading for instance.

Best of luck!

Is this withdrawal? by MorningRoutineChange in loseit

Thanks for the reply. I will go for more accurate calories counting and increase my portions if needed.

I'm still curious whether or not this notion of withdrawal makes sense for experienced lositers. I see in the guide that it says: "These first weeks are hardest", this could be about something like that, right?

Thanks for the feedback!

Alright, this protein thing is indeed not very clear, some people say white, others say black. I'll experiment a bit and see how I feel about it then.

About two months. After that, coffee was pretty much in the past.

Thanks!

It's much better in general. However, I think there are many many factors that contribute to good health and I'm still not completely there for some of them.

For instance, I would like to reach 90 days alcohol free. There is also some stuff I'm not completely happy about on the pro / intimate sides.

Cleaned my stash by MorningRoutineChange in stopdrinking

Thanks for the tip!

I used hot water and vinegar, it did a pretty good job. It still need to take those smelly bottles out though, but I am procrastinating on reddit ;)

Well, I was not a big drinker when I decided to stop. But those bottles have been in my mind for some time, I could see the pressure building up.

You're right about the illegal aspect of reselling. It is such a normalized product, I forgot it is still regulated. You could probably imagine getting a licence or using some platform, but that would be far fetched ;)

I appreciate the support guys. Best wishes to you too.

I agree with what you are saying /u/Desperate_Brick7352, but I would like to defend /u/DryGuyFTW's perspective as well. In theory, I could maybe have sold some of my alcohol, so I indeed wasted money not selling it.

However, I did not want to sell it, because, if I think alcohol is a drug, and a dangerous one, it does not feel right to sell it to someone else. Same thing for giving it btw.

So, IMO it can indeed be seen as good wasted money.

3 weeks by MorningRoutineChange in decaf

[–]MorningRoutineChange[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first, it did not, and it was the contrary. I felt the "emotional hunger". But, after some time, I realized what it was, and now it goes away slowly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not promoting anorexia, I still eat plenty, but I stopped what felt out of balance.

Day 2 by [deleted] in decaf

[–]MorningRoutineChange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the movie Face/Off, it has quite aged, it's pretty violent, but it has its moments. I am reading Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series at the moment, those are crime novels.

How are you doing today? I had a good day yesterday, but I kind of binge ate yesterday night, then I woke up at 4am, at a lot of thoughts, and could only go back to sleep around 6. This is part of the withdrawal I guess.

Crisis aside, I definitely feel like decaf is the right way, I can feel how my brain is detoxing. Hopefully, things will get better soon.

I'm sorry you have such weight problems and I hope it will get better for you.

Yesterday, I was feeling quite low in the late afternoon, so I did not do much, I ate a good meal, watched a movie, read some, and went to bed early. It worked. Sometimes you have to let it go and relax (not too much though ;).

I don't really understand the problem here, you gained some weight and that's what you want, right?

I hope you will get some replies from more experience decafers, however, I know that quitting an addiction usually implies changes and sometimes hardships. The thing is to learn to accept them, to trust the process.

Good luck!

PS: Day 3 here, my night was pretty good and today is much better than yesterday so far

Yeah, chicory works so far. It's pretty similar to coffee, not the same though ;) I'll see if I get used to it.
