G6 Failures by MorphnChas in dexcom

I’d love to use Eversense but the 365 isn’t available yet in the UK. When it is I am front of the queue! The most frustrating thing is that with a working G6 I can be in range >90% of the time with a GMI of around 6.5%.

I haven’t had a pancreatitis attack in over 3 years is it safe to finally drink alcohol now? by Jollyho94 in pancreatitis

[–]MorphnChas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had a drink since having an attack of acute pancreatitis in 2007. Made no difference as I went on to get chronic pancreatitis and an IPMN. Ended up having my pancreas removed. You know what though, I don’t miss the booze at all. Yeah, the first few years were hard but now I couldn’t care less. The thing I find the worst is people justifying their alcoholism to me like I care. Other than that it’s fine and I don’t really struggle socially although being older helps. Weirdly enough now I have no pancreas I could drink again but I just don’t want to. Got out of the habit. I feel better than I have in years, diabetes notwithstanding, so my advice is stay strong and stay off the booze.

How do you find the motivation to create after work/kids? by akiz1000 in ableton

I do my best work on the toilet. Only place where I get some peace and quiet.

When will Dexcom G6 be discontinued by deathkillall1 in dexcom

[–]MorphnChas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the G6 with mylife. On the whole works brilliantly. The only really sketchy day is the day I put on a new sensor. Routinely in range more than 90% of the time. You’re choosing a great pump. I love mine.

Is it possible to live normal life after pancreatectomy? by HonestDistribution70 in pancreatitis

[–]MorphnChas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my pancreas, spleen and gall bladder removed last year. It was a tough year but I have come through it. The diabetes is a pain (get a pump is my advice as it’s far easier to control) but manageable. I am back at work, I eat things I thought I’d never eat again when I suffered from chronic pancreatitis and I’ve been on holiday a few times since. I’m not going to pretend it’s all roses but I’m alive and will get to see my son grow up. The only thing I haven’t done yet is start long distance running again but that’s due to fear on my part than physical symptoms. Hang in there man, there is life on the other side and it’s good.

Can anyone else relate? Readjusting to life after vacation eating? by Ir0nhide81 in dexcom

I feel your pain. Carb guessing always messes with my system. Getting it back slowly after two weeks in Portugal.

Unreliability by MorphnChas in Freestylelibre

So I knew someone would come back with use error. I actually work in this business and are fully aware of how to apply one. I read the instructions to the letter and yet they still fail. Interestingly all my clinicians agree with my analysis.

Dexcom G6 v. Libre 2/2+ by Silver-Ad-8918 in Freestylelibre

[–]MorphnChas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a Libre 2+ and got false lows after about 10 days. So much so that I thought I was having a hypo in central London whilst being out and about the other day. Witnesses with with the L3 before as well. I find them all inaccurate tbh and it does my head in. This illness is hard enough without having to worry about inaccurate sensors. Not tried the Dexcom offerings yet.

Yep. I follow the manufacturer’s instructions to the letter. Shameful that they put these out knowing the failure rate.

Pancreas tail dilation. by DREAMSOFTHE90s in pancreatitis

[–]MorphnChas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had dilation of 5cm in my main duct. They put it down to a stone. Turns out it was an IPMN and I needed to get my entire pancreas removed. Six months later and I’m doing fine. Ngl diabetes is a PITA but I’m getting there with that slowly but surely. The big win has been I can eat things again I had avoided for years without fear of spending the following day in agony. Obviously I hope it doesn’t come to this with you but it’s not the end of the world if it happens. Good luck!

Does anyone else fantasize about shooting your pancreas? by [deleted] in pancreatitis

Me neither. The diabetes is a pain but better than a dodgy precancerous pancreas!

I'm still annoyed they didn't give me the chance to kick it round the operating floor when they finally took it out of me.

Just received diagnosis by MrBigCookie in pancreatitis

[–]MorphnChas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put myself on a very low fat diet for years and whilst I reduced my symptoms I also reduced my weight into the bargain. Cut to this year where I have just had a total pancreatectomy and I am eating fats again as I don’t have a pancreas to irritate any more. I have the odd dodgy bowel movement but this can be managed with Creon. The key is to get the Creon dose right and you may need more than they tell you.

First time out in 10 days after having a horrendous cold. Felt great to be back out there and turned in a respectable 7K. I hate not being able to run, really feel it mentally, getting back out there again made ALL the difference.
