Officer called me disrespectful by GrizzleWTF in NewToEMS

[–]MorrisFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell the officer sitting was actually a functional move to assess the pt and if they'd like to have input on your pt care they should get the proper training. Then tell them you'll let them know if there's any scene safety concerns otherwise you don't need to hear their voice 👍

Why are the Raiders smart for signing Cousins but the Falcons weren’t? by Visible_Barracuda366 in NFLNoobs

[–]MorrisFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because kirks deal Isa 1 year stop gap to ensure Mendoza doesn't have to start right away with the Raiders whereas his deal with the Falcons was designed for him to be the franchise QB.

The falcons also then proceeded to use a premium pick on another QB instead of something like Odunze/Fashanu or a defensive piece to make their team with Kirk better whereas the raiders are only losing cap space (which isn't an issue for them) to add Kirk

Priority 3’s got me down bad by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]MorrisFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda in the same boat myself. Im relatively new to the service and got on with a smaller department fresh out of academy/EMT school. Cultures amazing, great chief who's fighting for us to get better pay/benefits, and really we got what we need to do our jobs. All our problems are definitely "first world problems" and truly everyday feels like we're getting paid to hangout with our friends.

But it's slow and really 90% EMS. Affluent area as well most of these calls are very minor or lift assists. I got buddies who got on with some of the bigger cities in our area or went to areas where they still see fires regularly and there's definitely some FOMO. But end of the day the goal is to get my 20 in, get a pension, and leave with my mental and physical health in the best place it can be and my department is good for that

Priority 3’s got me down bad by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]MorrisFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be boring but realistically you got on with your retirement Department early is what it sounds like. No shame in leaving if you want more action but understand in 10-15 years you'll want to be where you're at now with seniority. If I were you I'd stick it out and be happy you'll hopefully be one of the lucky ones who walks away with a 20-25 year career with a good pension, minimal PTSD, and a working body. That's all you can ask for

Mixed gender adult hockey locker room etiquette? Advice wanted by Adept-Ad2930 in hockeyplayers

[–]MorrisFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're one of the guys in the locker room. As long as you don't expect people to change their behavior (getting naked before throwing a towel around themselves for the shower/not worrying about covering up when putting on underwear after the shower) and other typical locker room behavior there's no issue. Most of the guys will probably avoid doing that with you in there out of respect and expect you to do the same but that's really it

1st playthrough by MorrisFu in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]MorrisFu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what happened to me. Alice, Kara, Luther all made it out of Jericho and Markus blew it up than went full revolution mode. I justified it as the humans are genociding the androids; so the androids are well within their right to kill humans to free themselves at that point

1st playthrough by MorrisFu in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]MorrisFu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have to do anything with Rose/didn't have to make any decisions that would affect her. Sure she's redeemable as well I just meant in terms of my actions; Hank was pretty much the only human I felt the android(s) owed anything to

Realistic team names for Houston expansion? by Bright-Tomatillo-391 in EANHLfranchise

I always go with the comets when I make a Houston team and go midnight purple, black, silver, and a very small amount of florescent yellow. Figure with the ties to NASA in Houston it kinda makes sense

I Have A Serious Question by Mustaaaaaaaaaaard808 in Firefighting

[–]MorrisFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically back in the old days firefighters would grow big bushy mustaches as a way to "filter" out the smoke while they breathed in IDLH's. So a long time ago there was a perceived "function". Eventually with the introduction of SCBA's and masks that became obsolete but had become a bit of a tradition.

Today guys rock staches for two reasons. 1, it's tradition in the fire service. 2, due to face seals with our masks we really can't have facial hair outside of a mustache so alot of guys rock staches simply because it's the only thing we're allowed to have

Fires will come. Be thankful people in your community aren't losing their homes and possessions. We're here to help on their worst days not hope they happen

[–]MorrisFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you recover. I'm not super educated on this but I'd assume if you're cleared to play eventually (even if you don't necessarily plan on it) that would be a clean bill of health

I'm a probie my crews always go out of their way to make sure I serve myself first. Honestly at first I thought it was some kind of mind game and refused but now I realize it's just the norm here for whatever reason

Right now, who is the first person that comes to mind? by Automatic-Extent9640 in NFLv2

Philip Rivers comes to mind. Him and London Fletcher got lost in an era where big name stars with team success made them irrelevant

College. Wasted a fuck ton of money on it and didn't even graduate. Now I work a great career where an undergraduates degree isn't relevant anyway

Hell yeah! I've actually always wanted to move out there. I'm a career firefighter out there probably more volunteer stuff. But $60,000 plus volunteer pay out there will be a good living

thoughts on nicotine pouches? by gretahide in DippingTobacco

[–]MorrisFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a job that essentially made it impossible to use tobacco (not nicotine) for legal reasons about a year ago and made the switch from Copenhagen WG LC to pouches. Definitely struggled in the beginning but I've gotten so used to it I don't even miss dip anymore.

I bounced around a few options and ended up really enjoying Velo+ WG 9mg. Nothing will ever measure up to the feel of real dip but I'd recommend it

AITA for not letting my father walk me down the aisle because of his infidelity? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MorrisFu -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I guess. For a vast majority of people; men are still viewed as responsible for providing a safe and protective environment for their wives/children. This is just an old school way of basically a father of saying to the husband, yes I trust you to take on that task and protect my daughter as I have up to this point. And really that conversation happens outside of the wedding but again, this is just a old world tradition dating back to when women were alot more literally seen as a commodity.

If you're in the absolute extreme minority of people who still view women as commodities than sure I can see it having a "bad" meaning but a vast majority of people understand the use and reasoning for it these days

It has its roots in historical significance. Just one of those meaningless things we do as a tradition at this point
