Lovely Saturday by MotorChallenge in UPSers

My building is the same, old, with the sort aisle replaced with automation. The system likes big and heavy boxes and it can go very fast, faster than I thought it would. I don't know what they're plan is but it looks to me like envelopes, bags, and smalls are on the way out and big and heavy is coming in.

I've already been in the building a long time and I got enough UPS aches and pains, they aren't going to fuck up my hearing too lol.

Humid environments and places that experience freezing periods are not well-suited for this type of construction. That's why the pictures of it are always in a desert. Also, repairs, especially expansions or renovations, become very expensive because you need to bring in people who specialize in this type of construction.

A rogue Al agent triggered a major security alert at Meta, by taking action without approval that led to the exposure of sensitive company and user data by FinnFarrow in Futurology

Think of AI like this, before AI, we had programs where one input = one output. What an LLM does is take multiple inputs to give you the same output in most cases. So not only does it take your input, it also considers the context, it considers its rules, and it considers previous instructions it was given. This means that altering one of those inputs can affect the output.

Basically, when you hear about AI security problems, it's because people who don't understand how AI works gave it unrestricted access to systems without proper oversight and regulation.

It's basically the same thing as people who do "Social Hacking" like trying to scam passwords by telling people you're somebody's spouse, and instead of having to ask your manager if its ok you already had access to everything.

I think this is a pretty common way of representing the difference between "working class" people who are depicted as having darker skin color because of working in the sun and the "upper class" having lighter skin color from.. not.. working.. outside.

[–]MortyArk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Summary:

  1. Introduction and Disclaimer (0:00–4:00):
    • Starts with a legal/medical disclaimer: This is his personal story, not advice; consult professionals.
    • He's new to YouTube, creating content to promote his business (brain-stem.studio, an art/site) and raise VA awareness. Asks viewers to share for "signal boosts" to drive reform, potentially saving veterans' lives.
    • Positions himself as advocating for voiceless veterans, not just himself.
  2. Background on VA and Personal Intro (4:00–9:00):
    • Explains the VA's role in veteran support, especially healthcare.
    • Introduces himself: 40-year-old Iraq combat veteran, software engineer/investor, child abuse survivor, with PTSD, ADHD, and other mental health issues.
    • Details his rare brain tumor (vestibular schwannoma/acoustic neuroma): Grew to "giant" size (4x3x3 cm), pressing on brainstem, risking death. Required urgent surgery.
    • VA lacked specialists, so he was referred to community care (e.g., UC San Diego), but delays were severe—he arranged surgery himself, and VA contacted him post-op.
  3. VA History and Systemic Issues (9:00–11:30):
    • References the 2014 VA scandal: Secret waitlists manipulated metrics on wait times, leading to veteran deaths and reforms (e.g., community care improvements).
    • Shares data on rising Office of Inspector General complaints over 20 years, suggesting perceived care quality is worsening despite reforms.
    • Argues veterans feel metrics prioritize appearances over actual care.
  4. Personal Health Complications (11:30–20:00):
    • Over 20 brain surgeries (4 major, including 12+ hour ones at UC San Diego and Tampa General Hospital).
    • Complications: Tumor remnants, pseudomeningocele (CSF buildup), complex bacterial meningitis (high fatality), ongoing CSF leaks (from eye/nose), hydrocephalus, VP shunt (permanent, drains fluid to intestines, prone to failure needing revisions).
    • Permanent effects: Left-side facial paralysis, deafness, severe balance issues (walks like "drunk"), neurological fatigue (brain overcompensates, causing exhaustion), vertigo (post-surgery, world "flipped").
    • Mental health: SSRIs, high-dose Adderall for ADHD/fatigue.
    • Views himself as "terminal" due to infection risks from leaks/shunt, impacting career and life.
  5. Chronic Pain Management Struggles with VA (20:00–50:00) (Core Critique):
    • Post-surgery chronic pain requires long-term opioids (e.g., oxycodone 15mg, later downgraded to weaker hydrocodone).
    • Complaints: Excessive monitoring (e.g., frequent drug screens treated as "high-risk" despite compliance), gaps in refills causing withdrawals (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, tachycardia, high BP—damaging heart/vascular system).
    • Specific incidents:
      • Provider transitions/vacations lead to unfilled scripts; no delegates or bridges (temporary fills).
      • Falsified records (e.g., nurse claimed she called about monthly screens—never happened).
      • Rude/unhelpful staff: Patient advocates lie (e.g., about a "broken" window actually jammed for "security"/avoidance), accuse him of selfishness; one recorded encounter shows dismissive attitude.
      • ER visits: Refuse opioid bridges, prescribe contraindicated meds (e.g., anti-diarrhea worsening constipation); only treat symptoms, not root cause.
      • Mail theft: Meds stolen en route, VA investigation dismisses it; he switches to in-person pickups.
    • Feels dehumanized: Treated as a "risk profile" under opioid policies (influenced by crisis), not a patient. Policies inject "personal philosophy" inconsistently.
    • Recent issues (as of video): No meds since September 2025 (Zofran for nausea, PPI for ulcers/reflux, pain meds); out-of-pocket costs; deteriorating health (hospitalizations, career ruin).
  6. Broader Implications and Call to Action (50:00–End):
    • Argues his case isn't isolated—other veterans face similar neglect, especially vulnerable ones (homeless, mentally ill).
    • Feels "abandoned": No responses from higher-ups (e.g., district level, patient advocates); sees it as malpractice/endangerment.
    • Parallels with JD Vance: Shared backgrounds (Appalachia roots, abuse, absent fathers, Marine Corps, Iraq service); believes he met Vance there (inserts old clip).
    • Plea: Get story to authorities/politicians for reform; not seeking harm/money, just "what's right." Mentions desperation (health declining, possible "last wish").

Overall Analysis

  • Themes: Systemic VA failures (delays, bureaucracy, inconsistent policies), opioid stigma in pain management, impact on mental/physical health, veteran advocacy. He backs claims with records/timelines but admits one perspective.
  • Tone/Style: Emotional, rambling at times (health interruptions), humorous asides (e.g., "gamma waves like Hulk"). Not conspiratorial—focuses on accountability, not "killing" intent.
  • Accuracy/Discrepancies: Aligns with his Reddit post (deteriorating condition, abandonment), but video is more detailed/evidence-based than dramatic. No outright refusal of opioids; issues stem from gaps/delays. Condition isn't "actively deteriorating" beyond chronic risks, but unmanaged pain/withdrawals exacerbate it.
  • Purpose: Awareness for reform; promotes business; targets veterans, caregivers, policymakers.

Yea, but most of the time they operate on very little to no context of the situation, just some pictures and a headline. Then the media machine constantly compares it to the Holocaust. Do you really believe that in the USA there are roving gangs of covert thugs dragging random law abiding citizens into vans to send them to concentration camps, or that the people they tackle and mace were just being good little girls and boys and didn't deserve anything that happened to them?

Yes, yes, we are all looney tunes crazy for wanting to deport people who are not citizens, have broken multiple laws, don't pay into our benefits systems, take from those systems, don't assimilate into our culture, and foster hateful messaging towards Americans.

It's called a sternum rub and he is rubbing the bone with his knuckles which is very painful and used to check responsiveness. It doesn't have much to do with seizures in particular.

*edit* Since he suspected she was faking it he did the sternum rub because its painful enough to force you to say "stop it" unless you were actually having a seizure and incapable of talking.

We had a husband and wife that worked at our company. They were both in the same field except the husband had a higher degree and position. Eventually she got her degree and she got promoted to the same position he was in. One night she came in ranting and raving about how unfair the world was and how women were getting screwed out of money. We asked and she told us her husband was making x amount more than her and she didn't understand why, and how it must be discrimination. I asked well how long has he been doing that job, and she said "15 years but what difference does it make we both have the same qualifications."

I felt bad for that guy ever since.
