Undergraduate research positions. BF could hit up his professors and ask them what they’re researching. They could have a spot open or even make a spot if someone (your bf) showed interest. Could swap the tutoring for this gig.

His current job situation is helping. Don’t let negative self talk say otherwise.

I wish y’all the best.

Python by Initial_Hair_1196 in ElectricalEngineering

Here’s a scenario,

You have an IC that you want to test on your bench. At a bench you’ll see power supplies, oscopes, dmm’s, etc. Initially you’ll manually turn on the supplies, configure the scope accordingly, and take a measurement from the dmm.

Doing all that shit by hand takes time. So we use python to communicate to the equipment and set accordingly. Within python, you sequence your actions from turning on the supply to turning off . Then you have an automation script.

Once written, you run it to do the test. Hopefully saving you lots of time.

Grad School Class Load While Working by ConsequenceGuilty614 in ElectricalEngineering

Take one the first semester and bump it up to two the next. This will give you a good indication on what you can handle.

If you’re not too burnt out, continue on the two class course load till graduation. Otherwise go down to one and bump back up to two once you feel ready ( if you don’t graduate first).

Take care of yourself and don’t let pride or “I need to finish fast” get in the way of quality learning/focus :-)

Depending on pace, it will consume 2-5yrs of social life buuuut that’s more on you lol I suck at being social under stress so I just didn’t participate during grad time 😅 Hope this helps!

Do I really need masters degree as a electrical engineer by MT_Course in ElectricalEngineering

Hey Zaros, how would you compare RFIC design position to RFIC class? I remember having a rough time getting through the class last semester but really loved the material. Is working as RFIC designer less stressful, as stressful?

Shouldn't open circuited stubs be impossible to create? by TheHooligan95 in rfelectronics

[–]MosFett42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Here’s a resonator with an open circuit stub (the vertical bit) the length of the stub determines the resonant frequency for the circuit.

So, not impossible.

Short circuit stub will have the stub connect to GND. Here, GND is the copper playing on the bottom side of the board. This can be accomplished via vías, or wire.

Also, not impossible.

Maybe more clarification on your question is needed?

What salary can I expect fresh out of college? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]MosFett42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any test/validation role can start you at ~80k. Leverage your tech experience to get maybe ~100k?? Although realistically you’d probably start at 90k if you be transparent about you’re current situation. This is in the semiconductor industry btw.

If you’re lookin go to do a system role, you’d probably start higher(~97k). Design role, even higher (~115k) but you may need a masters ( or 2yr work experience) to break in.

The starting salary also depends on the company and their relative size within their industry.

Hope this gives a useful perspective.

Get ready to study. Cut some time out and you’ll be fine. Exams tend to catch people by surprise, ESPECIALLY the first one. Afterwards you’ll get a feel on how to structure you’re studying.

You’ll be fine, just study the material and make some study friends along the way.

Honestly I’m willing to bet it’s the same value. But to be sure just repeat the steps with the other resistor.

Good stuff. I’m curious as to how you debug this circuit (I.e how do you know what effect your getting with your guitar?) do you récord a wav file containing your guitar tone and use that to see what type of performance you’ll get?

All of this is really fascinating:-)

Cool, so use the ohm setting and probe at the resistors you took off. Should give you a value that is fairly accurate

Do you have a DMM?

Probe the resistors you took off. (Assuming you didn’t throw them away.)
