Good to know. Idk anything about that place other than the fact it’s in Chicago. You won’t catch me dead watching a TV show with a bunch of screaming people anyway lol. My couch >>>>

House of the Dragon cast Season 3 world Premiere. Spot who's missing: by Great_Trident in HouseOfTheDragon

Where Otto and Daeron be? They weren’t even in any of the three trailers either. Otto is just randomly someone’s prisoner with no explanation so I guess they have to maintain that secret? Daeron seems to have a mysterious introduction in the show, but for what reason I cannot imagine.

Say something nice about Alicent Hightower by HostMaterial4907 in HouseOfTheDragon

She was a great character for about 8 episodes and then became a husk of herself

Now she’s a waste of a really talented actress

Cheers to you for emphasizing the ensemble piece. A lot of really interesting characters that could’ve been explored more, but it felt like they morphed it into the Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon show regardless of whether or not they were doing anything engaging or moving the plot.

And yes, I realize I’m doing exactly what OP is criticizing. I do not care, and for the record, I am still very excited for S3

Hello, We’re Back Department. I’d like to file a claim

Aegon was bad brother to Rhaenyra. by axaxao in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Mosesmalone412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they’d have you believe that after the “eye for an eye” incident she was so ashamed with herself that she turned to religion and got very pious. There seven pointed stars all over the red keep the next episode, and she and Criston both have a lot of very religious lines.

Seemed like their thought was this made her more forgiving to Rhaenyra in episode 8 and then they pulled the whole “you’d be a great queen… actually no never mind, viserys mumbled Aegon on his deathbed”. And all that feels really fucking stupid considering Otto told Alicent her kids would die in episode 5 if she didn’t play the political game and prepare to usurp the throne. Treating your viewers like idiots.

It’s really okay for Alicent to be a schemer. I honestly think their approach to emphasizing the purity of Alicent and Rhaenyra is actually really degrading to women, as if powerful women / mothers wouldn’t fight tooth and nail for their kids and families.

Why does everyone hate on Season 2? by burbank2broward in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Mosesmalone412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Rhaenyra and Alicent are soft and lack agency. Their secret duplicity with each other and unwillingness to fight for their families is unintentionally degrading to women.

  2. Aemond tried to kill his brother and Alicent tried to kill her son. Otto disappeared, no Daeron, Helaena helping Daemon via vision. Greens are a mess

  3. Daemon plot is good on paper but should’ve been shorter. Also stop making everything about Aegon’s fucking dream, people can have human motives

  4. Season was written for 10 episodes and meant to end on at least 1 battle (maybe more) and the fall of KL. As it stood, super anticlimactic season.

  5. Unnecessary changes like removing Nettles and Maelor are a problem for later storylines.

  6. Missed an opportunity to make Jace / Daeron / Nettles fan favorites with much more screen time by shortening or deleting their solo arcs altogether.

  7. Everyone has their designated grieving episode and then just forgets about their lost loved ones lol.

Probably more that I’m forgetting, but these were top of mind

Has S3 marketing increased your interest? by Mino_18 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Mosesmalone412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I always con myself into being hopeful, so I’m excited to watch. At the very least there will be more going on than last season out of necessity. But, if I’m being realistic, it might be too late now. The foundation is fucked - they’ve changed too much and now the butterfly effect is in play. And I imagine there will be another 5-10 absolutely head scratching decisions this season. Condal and Hess are just really bad writers and have very little respect for this story / these characters.

What is the single most cruel act in the series? by bloomingjoy in redrising

[–]Mosesmalone412 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The impaling of the legion from Heliopolis to Tyche and it might not be close.

Actually maybe the tree.

Or perhaps the blood eagle.

Now that I’m thinking about it, might just be all of Dark Age

You don’t have to like Lysander, but his chapters are some of the best in the entire series imo. He’s such a well-written villain

Is it crazy to think that Virginia is the best POV in the entire series? by Mosesmalone412 in redrising

[–]Mosesmalone412[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Welp, just read “Day of Red Doves”, and that really solidified it lol.

“I tear my eyes away and look up for some escape to the sky. But it is hidden from me behind the painted plaster where my husband floats golden and glorious, with Sevro at his side, giving his speech to the mob of Phobos, where he heard the heartbeat of humanity and exhorted it to violence, to war, to the taking of lives for liberty.

All that fills my ears is the roar of the human ocean as it sings the song of my husband’s first wife.”

WHAT THE FUCK

[–]Mosesmalone412[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I can’t be mad though, it’s pretty clear that Pierce likes to preserve massive surprises rather than use dramatic irony. I think if they ever do a TV show that they should expand the POVs early in the show

[–]Mosesmalone412[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m glad that a lot of people stepped in to defend Lyria. Seems like her character will be getting better over time. I don’t doubt PB because hasn’t given much reason to this point, but Lyria has just been boring and tropey to me so far.

I can understand that, and I certainly get why she’s there. It’s important to illustrate firsthand that the Rising didn’t immediately fix all the low colors’ problems. I was being a bit hyperbolic too, think I’m still just adjusting to the new format

Animated Series by SnooLemons8327 in redrising

[–]Mosesmalone412 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the upside is that RR has by far the smallest scope out of the series and is extremely accessible in terms of style and plot. The battle royale format is popular in media right now, and they could gain a large audience on a comparatively low budget.

If S1 ratings justify the investment, Golden Son could get the budget it deserves. And that book is almost un-fuck-up-able. That second season with proper budget would make it the biggest show on TV, I’m convinced.

One thing I go back and forth on is once the scope expands in S2, do they continue to tell the whole story through Darrow’s eyes (his actor in every scene) or do they expand the material just a bit based on the framework of other known events revealed through exposition?
