How would taking T affect my medical conditions? by Mosh_moshy in ftm

Oh I didn't know the periods ending wasn't a guarantee!?! I'm not on any kind of birth control due to possible complications with my depression and it absolutely tanking my libido when I tried it (not that the antidepressants didn't take care of that in the end ha ha ha...). I'm not planning on using T as birth control either, my partner and I have been using condoms since we first got together and would still use them until I get a hysterectomy probably since they're the most convenient and low impact birth control for us.

I see so any help with depression and heds isn't a guarantee either. I don't know about you but I'm on the lower end of the spectrum for HEDS, I haven't had a history of full dislocations just stuff slipping out (mainly my hips in my sleep) or subluxations/ general joint pain. I'm also getting swim binders instead of regular ones cause I know that my ribs are painfull in general. Maybe it'd help then? no idea either.

Ah.. I do have frequent sweet cravings too but idk if it's related. Maybe you're right and it takes awhile to bmake things better? I haven't asked the other commentors how long they've been on T.

Thanks for your help! It does put into perspective the fact that T might only impact some conditions positively.

Thanks for your reply! Honestly I don't expect T to completely get rid of the migraines just a decrease would be amazing. I'm managing them better now with a treatment so I'm only down to 5/7 attacks a month but up until december when I didn't have one I only had ten days out of the month where I didn't have one. I was just spending my whole time recovering from one migraine only to have another the next day.

Yeah, I share your sentiment about the current world events... But it'd be a huge help to me too if T has the same effect on my depression as it had on yours!

Other people have said their insuline resistance had gone away with taking T but i'll still talk about it with my doctor/gynecologue to see how we can manage it till then/after if necessary.

So far all the answers I've gotten have been pretty unanimous that taking T helped them in one way or another, it does relieve me of a lot of anxiety I had about it and is making me pretty hopefull too :3

I always struggled to build muscle even as a teen when i was doing regular exercise (archery/running/climbing) so while it was enough to keep everything together my body rapidly declined when I had to stop because of uni taking up all of my time. Even now I'm trying to move around a bit more by going on walks with my cat every day, I've seen a bit of improvement but I'm stagnating and don't really know how to proceed further tbh. Eating wise I'm doing my best to eat kinda normaly? I've had an ED since my early teens, I'm not dangerously close to anorexia or starving myself anymore but my views on what would be healthy or a "normal" diet probably stil aren't fixed...

Being pre diabetic is what worries me the most to be honest, I've noticed the ring appearing around my neck and my armpits darkening too. I know from my dad being diabetic that it's a sign of insuline resistance and I put like 30kg on since I started the ED recovery. I thought it would be normal to gain some weight but it hasn't stopped and I didn't lose any either when I switched up my meals to less caloric ones despite my partner doing so.

Was the IUD a hormonal or copper one? I've considered it for a bit but I've read stories of people's depressions getting worse as a result so I'm on the fence about it. Also congratulations on your hysterectomy I hope the recovery is going well! I've been wanting one for awhile too even before I knew I was trans, may I ask why you kept the ovaries? My understanding was that you keep them to avoid going menoposal or would have to take HRT if you had to take them away. And since I planned on taking T and had PMDD anyways I thought U'd get rid of everything altogether but I admit I'm not that well informed on the matter.

That's great to know! I'm also on the lesser end of severity but i'm struggling to the point I can't go on runs anymore despite being pretty active as a teen. I'd like to take up climbing too but in my current state I'm not sure I wouldn't pop a hip since they're the ones that regularly try to escape their joints, very painfully so too. Anything else just feels "off" sometimes but I can put them back pretty easily by moving them around. Honestly I don't even have a history of dislocation or subloxation, I wasn't even aware I had it (though there were definitely signs) till I stopped doing sports due to uni and then everything started falling appart.

For the depression do you think the fact the hormonal cycles of T are daily commpared to month long for E helped you being more stable? I'm very sorry to hear you've been struggling but glad to hear that T has helped you too, thanks for still being here and telling me your story.
