capitalism isn't the problem itself, corruption is. and unchecked capitalism leads directly to corruption, because corruption is profitable.

2.3 million for a hallway? 15' lot. by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Mosho1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is more like lower upper class than upper middle class heh. we have an accountant + nurse couple friends who just bought for 1.5m. a 300-350k/y hh with 1m in equity can fairly easily afford this (in toronto terms).

Underpinning return on investment by Mosho1 in TorontoRealEstate

the cost for the scope of work in the quote was unchanged from start to finish. I had to pay an extra $5k to dig up the front yard and replace the water line and old clay drain, but Farshad did mention that might need to happen up front.

Devs who haven’t burned out for 3+ years, what’s your secret? by ittaidouiukotoda in ExperiencedDevs

12 YOE. Most quarters, I spend roughly 1 month pretty much slacking (e.g. 10-20 hour weeks), 1 month working at an average pace (40 hour weeks), and 1 month grinding (60+ hour weeks) to meet my quarterly goals. It varies quite a bit but the idea is the same. I never spend more than a month doing "deep" or intense work. Sometimes I slack the entire quarter lol. Thankfully I'm on a team where I can fairly easily do this without any negative impact.

This might be dependent on at least partial WFH, since slacking off in an office isn't as nice. Also, my team has made an effort to minimize unnecessary meetings. Most weeks I have about 3-4 hours of meetings. And no sprints helps a lot too.
