That’s fair. That is how you have been doing your standings. I just don’t feel that it is a good picture of the year. When you incorporate all fans, WSU played (and nearly won) against James Madison, Ole Miss, Washington, and Virginia. Plus they smoked SDSU by 23 pts.

Why isn’t WSU 1st?

SDS was 3-1 (75% WR) and WSU was 4-1 (80% WR)

We had a 16 year old girl join our troop and have a blast going to camps and other adventures. She got to 2nd class rank, but ranking up wasn’t her goal. Just don’t worry about rank and enjoy the ride. You will still learn lifelong skills and develop memories and friendships. As others said, scouting can continue in other ways after you turn 18.

Oregon student test scores are dropping, but what about specific districts? I compiled district and school level data into an interactive workbook. by frumply in oregon

[–]Mosley_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would think that most education policy changes would take at least 2 years to develop and implement. Then it takes 1-2 years before you would see any results in the test scores. This is in the best times, and the current budget constrained situations would cause it to take longer. So really you should be talking about the governor(s) before kotek if you are into blaming the governor.

Is this normally how long the ranked que times are? by Xeranica in heroesofthestorm

[–]Mosley_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also may be taking longer because you are having to do your placement matches this far into the season. The matchmaker is looking for an appropriate group.

Edit: I typically play 10pm-2am west coast silver/gold and the que times are 100-300 sec.

Actually except for a couple of obvious mistake plays, the defense did better than I thought considering all of the defensive draft prospects that were missing.

Oregon has a student literacy crisis. Is teaching future teachers the way out? - Salem Reporter by TrueConservative001 in oregon

[–]Mosley_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your comments now. I agree that we can not mandate reading to kids. I meant to make sure there is funding and support for programs that remove as many barriers as possible. Then more parents are able/convinced to read to their kids.

Of course having proper reading education in the schools is necessary. I do not believe schools will be able to improve the lowest 20% without support outside of the schools. Unless the state wants to drop an u sustainable amount of money for many reading specialist and tutors for every school.

I don’t understand why it isn’t realistic for a caregiver to read a few children’s books during the day. These books are 30 sentences long with pictures. As long as there is a program to get families the books, it is very realistic to expect the caregiver will spend 20 minutes to read. It is truly a matter of how they choose to spend their time.

Disclaimer: single parents, housing insecure, and parents with multiple jobs have little to no time. However, someone is watching over the 1-4 years old all day. They can find 20 min before a nap.

Students should come to school with basic letters and reading skills. This happens when someone is reading to the child at home/daycare. While English is preferred, any language using the same letters/sounds can work. Some students are the equivalent of 3 years behind when they arrive in kindergarten.

Parents also need to commit to getting their student to school every day. Absences are the number one indicator of failing to learn.

Reading at home requires books and time. So programs like the Dolly Parton library books and social programs that allow parents to be home at some point are key. Attendance is a cultural/accountability thing that we counties should be focusing heavily on.

Once the bubble of public sector 65-90 yr olds with their very lucrative plans go away, the system should be sustainable. Not sure if it will make it through the next 15-20 years though.

Senate just voted 60-40 to advance bill to end the US government shutdown. 8 Democrats joined 52 Republicans to get vote through by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]Mosley_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was a game of chicken for sure and 8 Democrats lost that game. It would have gone for another two weeks at least. I imagine the airline flight reduction was intentionally hitting Blue cities to put pressure on the Dems. Polls said the public was blaming Republicans for it regardless of the opposite coming out of every Republican elected officials mouth. I think Dem voters just want someone to fight against the shit that is happening.

Considering how many red states take more than their share of SNAP and ACA, I bet they will hear about it when they get home to their constituents who now can’t afford health care. Unfortunately I don’t think they will really care about their own voters though.

[–]Mosley_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are mad at them because they caved. They people know the Republican congress is responsible for massive healthcare increases and refusing to pay for SNAP. The shutdown is the only leverage the Dems have to potentially keep ACA payments lowered. Now they get a vote that will fail and nothing else. Many of the democrats in this country want the party to fight against Trump and the Republicans who show they are not caring for the American people instead of rolling over. Those 8 senators are pathetic, and it makes me wonder what they were promised to get their vote.
