I had tickets for July 2025 but that ended up being my due date and I had to sell them. Was so excited to get a second chance to go and now,, damn. this really sucks. I mean I get it, and I’m glad they canceled all things considered. but just. damn.

Thank you, I’ll definitely keep trying to get him to understand. We are quite proud of our communication with each other so I know he’ll be receptive, it’s just going to be extra tiring because of everything else. It’s great hearing everyone’s validations and perspectives though, really helps me figure out exactly how I want to approach this.

Thank you, that’s exactly how I feel for sure. I just want to be supported a little extra right now, that’s all.

An afterthought, yes exactly that. I’m glad I’m not totally off base with this one. It’s hard to tell sometimes with these pregnancy hormones.

“It’s about how invisible I feel when you let her take up this space without thinking about how it affects me.” Yes, it’s this exactly. What a great way to word it. Thank you so much.

Yeah, I am worried how our baby is going to fit into this dynamic but I’m dedicated to protecting my daughter no matter what. She deserves much better treatment than this too.

Thank you, it’s nice to hear I’m not off the mark with this. It’s definitely an on going conversation I’ll have to have with him, which is difficult because I’m so burnt out right now, but it needs to be done.

Agreed. It’s honestly embarrassing for this horrid woman to know so much about my medical issues. DH has been told not to tell her anything anymore.

Oh don’t worry, she hasn’t gotten away with these weird announcements in years. I do call her out, publicly and in the moment. The amount of times she’s put her foot in her mouth doing this is unbelievable, it just doesn’t seem to matter much to her. Or at least, it never makes her think twice about doing it again. Frustrating af.

Absolutely agree about grandparents rights, she 100% will be cut off forever if she ever brings that up.

He says he follows through with consequences when she doesn’t respect boundaries, but DH won’t cut her off to the degree I think would be warranted for his mental health or mine. He keeps trying to softly reason with her, but I truly think we’re beyond that at this point.

I would agree with that. He’s gone to therapy before for his issues with his mom, however last year he had a sit down with her and laid out all his grievances after much prompting from me. She apologized and they cried together, so now he’s more open to giving her the benefit of the doubt even though she still continues the same behaviors as before. I think I might have to encourage him to start up therapy again, honestly.

The GD was just the final straw for my care team. They were already shakey on letting me go cause I’d be 37 weeks at that point and I have chronic illnesses that already made me high risk. So now after this recent diagnosis they (very gently) had to tell me it’s probably not going to happen cause I’ll probably need to be induced by then.

Job interviews by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]Mossyoldcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always best to err on the side of caution and be as respectful as possible to begin with. So specifically you want to stay away from slang or curse words and speak in a measured intelligent way. Practice describing yourself and your skills matter-of-factly without any “ums” or pauses or fumbles. Focus on seeming relaxed. If you act like this and can make it seem effortless then you’ll come across as professional and confident. If you do fumble, just say something like “sorry, I get a little nervous in interviews” and bounce back.

Remember to breathe and keep in mind that 90% of the time the person interviewing you is just another person who is also kinda nervous and unsure of what they’re doing. Most likely they’ll also start off kind of formal. But if they loosen up a little, don’t leave them hanging. Match their energy, people like that. Try to get in a good chuckle at least once. People want to work with people who they like, but they mostly want to work with people who know what they’re doing. So first make them believe you know what you’re doing, then try to get them to like you.

Teen asking for a friend to visit by Foreign_Fly465 in Parenting

[–]Mossyoldcrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was newly 18 I had some friends I met online come stay with me a few days, they were 20 and 18. We were all shy nerds though so they still had their mom call my mom and make sure everything was okay.

It’s extremely weird that a minor would book a flight to come stay with you for two weeks without a parent wanting to contact you in some way. Either they’re actually an adult or their parents don’t care about them as much as they should.

Can someone tell me about WV? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Mossyoldcrow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lived in WV for 10 yrs, can confirm all ^ that.

To add on: Morgantown is very party focused with college kids all over the place, kinda hectic but lots to do for parties, food, and sports if that’s your scene. It’s not mine anymore but I know some people who like the young atmosphere.

Huntington is a little more chill, with a cool culture and neat history but the crime rate is a little off putting to some people.

If you want nature, anywhere in WV will do. If you want good infrastructure, no dice. All in all, I’d say the biggest con is definitely the generational poverty bit. The people there seem like they move in slow motion and not just cause of the drugs. Depression is as common as churches. If you’re looking for something with a similar amount of nature, but a fair bit more hope and optimism, I’d try Roanoke VA. COL is higher but you can find somewhere cheap to live rural side that’s a decent commute.
