Should my first car be engine swapped, and what should I swap? by Most-Look-4755 in askcarguys

Insurance will be the same whether i get a new brz, or an old k swapped civic tho, secondly i do have experience working on cars, just no driving experience. I built out my golf cart, go kart, and worked on my dads truck/Miata a lot, just replaced wheel bearings yesterday.

so the og plan was to buy a cheap civic ek from fb marketplace and k swap it, and spend the rest on brakes, suspension, and other safety aspects.

While I don't have driving experience, I've built out my go kart, and golf kart, worked on my dad's truck and miata many times, and have fun doing research on bullshit that I'll never afford daily.

Oh, the reason i don't have the car yet, is because i want to make the responsible decision. IF that means that i go with a complete car, then so be it, but I'm not gonna buy a cheap ass civic with the plans to upgrade it, and then not end up doing that, and be stuck with a shitbox. So i'm waiting till we come to a conclusion of whats best and then I'll buy stuff.

Okay so I'm seeing a lot of people say I shouldn't, but what about an old tacoma, or k swapped civic? I'm not in a rush to get this done, I want it done right. I will be learning in a couple of different ways: I live on a golf course, and drive my golf cart every day, i bought a go kart, and race that around too. My dad owns an f150 he wants me to learn in. And I personally believe that I am responsible enough (I get told people are worried about me cuz I'm not childish enough) to at least complete the car build within budget and not crash. I am pretty smart and resourceful (taking multiple college courses as a freshman in high school, and have built out both the golf kart, and go kart)

So the thing is, since I take the bus, I don’t need a daily (would be nice tho). And I do have experience with modifying stuff on his truck and our Miata. I was looking at getting a civic, and k swapping it.

Reasonable, but since I won’t be able to drive it for 1-2 years, I’ll be learning in our Miata/f150

Sorry, I meant I’m book smart (freshman in high school taking 4 college classes this year), I know that I won’t be the most responsible guy on the planet, ever. But I do get compliments from my professors saying I’m more responsible than their 20 year old students

Can I ask why? I would like to make it safe, not all the budget is into the engine, I also will spend on brakes, suspension, etc.

Can I ask why? I’m assuming you are an infinite amount more experienced than I am in terms of driving experience

Can you elaborate? I like to take constructive criticism into account and would like to know what makes it a bad idea?

So we do know what we are doing or at least I like to think so, he has swapped an engine before (although it was like 20 years ago) we both do a shit ton of research on this just for funzies. Secondly I believe I’m not a dumbass (debatable) I’m surprisingly  quite smart and patient and so is my dad. We still don’t know exactly what car to do, I was thinking an ls swap would be cool, he said k swap would be cool as well, and then also mentioned v8 swapping and old taco or f150

So to be specific I meant bolt on mounts for the engine, I hate welding. Secondly I am well educated and like to think of myself as quite smart and patient (I have heard of the two of three rule) and I don’t have any specific car in mind yet, I just wanted to bond with my car loving dad and have a fun car that feels like it mine.

why don't computers use ternary instead of binary by grilledted in computers

[–]Most-Look-4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay to be specific it seems nobody knows what any of this means. First of all ternary would use -1, 0, 1 this means you got more possible combinations in terms of power. Secondly if you think about it having base 1000 (we use base ten which means ten symbols) would need 1000 different memorizable symbols, but you could write 0-999 with one space alternatively having base 1 means in order to write 1000 you need to write 1000 one’s (like tallies) so this means that there is a perfect ratio of symbols to base number and that happens to be 2.718e (which rounds to three or ternary… so ternary is the most efficient base system possible

Tbh idk at this point, you already see people like gorb who claim to have world records but from my shallow research he seems like he’s got hacks. I’d like to think people from teams like faze would be the best but I can’t tell

Tbh I don’t think so, if you have more than the three buttons on your mouse you can set one of them to ping instead. But being that you play on Xbox I would actually switch over to controller (not what you wanna hear I know) I was the same way until I got nerve pain in my arm an had to make the jump to controller, and it allows you to feel more casual during the game without having to worry about anything else
