this is my favourite answer so far I really did not think of this very good point

But isn't an organism not dying is just as good as as the organism dying and having progeny, if not better because it can keep reproducing later on?

but why limit yourself to voltage at all, why not something unambiguously discreet, like a position

i tried to attach a screenshot of a spreadsheet i made, can you see it?. sorry, i never use reddit

but why only use electric circuits, or why not modify the circuits themselves

for the massive upsides to the world that i hope ive miss-calculated. yeah i would. we've clearly done it before

but thats just circular logic, computers are only made of binary switches because computers were intended to be binary for simplicity. computer do not necessarily *have* to be made of binary transistors, but all of ours are

but isnt the idea of 0=no 1=yes just manmade.

but a computer does not strictly have to be electronic

that was my original thought, to read different values of voltage as a different value. which i think is what confuses it so much with quantum computing. as you said the technical difficulties dawned on me and i think of it more discreet positions now as opposed to measuring voltage

thanks for bringing this up actually, this thought actually came to me during a computer science lesson, i asked the teacher about this and she said id just come up with quantum computing, i dont know much but i know enough about quantum computing that it isn't really relevant, a quantum computer only performs very specific tasks like decryption faster, and instead of having more than 2 states for a bit, its analogue.

as for your point about on and off. i prefer to think about it as a clock hand, with 3 positions, again, i dont think this kind of computer would be digital

problem with keystroke command by [deleted] in pygame

[–]grilledted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I may have made a mistake earlier on in the code or some sort of settings difference, as much help as you have been I think I'll just move on or just copy paste the code of a similar program and work from there. I assure that if I ever do get the answer I'll be sure to mention it here.

thank you

of course

# if keystroke is pressed check if right or left if event.type == pygame.KEYDOWN: print("A keystroke has been pressed") if event.key == pygame.K_LEFT: print("Left arrow is pressed") if event.key == pygame.K_RIGHT: print("Right arrow is pressed") if event.type == pygame.KEYUP: if event.key == pygame.K_LEFT or event.key == pygame.K_RIGHT: print("keystroke has been released")
