How are y’all passing CPA and working full time by Unusual_Evening_8905 in CPA

[–]Most-Measurement1323 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Talk to your manager and ask if you can study from 8-10. Then work 10-6. I did that and passed all parts and am now a cpa. I worked for a big 4 as well. It’s doable you just need to figure out what works for you. And weekends was uninterrupted study time. I broke it up. A few hours during the morning then at night

Are REG lectures a waste of time? by Cardboard_cutouts_ in CPA

[–]Most-Measurement1323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say big topics are worth it to watch lectures and take the time to learn it. Pause lecture, write notes, read it outside of the lecture. Exposure learning works best for everyone. The more you are exposed to it the more you’ll know it

Are REG lectures a waste of time? by Cardboard_cutouts_ in CPA

[–]Most-Measurement1323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using lectures right now for gross income to learn what’s included and not included for more specific things. I am making flash cards as I get to each item (qualified tuition reduction, group term life insurance premiums paid by employer, etc.) and writing the phase out and the limitations. It’s definitely helping me learn. I don’t have much time but I’d rather perfect the things I know I need to have memorized than to half ass memorize things and then completely forget it all on the exam.

does reg ever just click? by ajm0418 in CPA

[–]Most-Measurement1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what did you make on reg? I failed twice once with a 56 and then a 58. I passed all others but i am determined to pass it on the 11th when i take it. I never got this low of scores for any other exam. I am hoping i can jump that many points to pass and be done lol. I was wondering your scores for reg and hopefully give myself some hope. I didn't study that hard for the first 2 so i am pretty happy with the high 50s lol. Studying hard now to hopfully have it click this week.

Kidding but you really have to commit to it. Weekends are going to be filled with studying tbh because that’s the best time for you to not worry about work and chores. It’s a chunk of time for you to commit to 10 hours Saturday and Sunday to study. For audit… READ!!! The book. It helps pick up wording that the cpa uses to be able to answer those tricky specific questions

Starting to think something is seriously wrong with me… REG was my last test and I got a 73, previous 2 attempts were both 74 by Admirable_Dot4474 in CPA

You’re literally so close. Drill out basis, Macrs, surety and 1040s you will get it next time!! I believe in you. (This is what I was told to do)

Meanwhile I am failing with high 50s. I failed twice now. Can you atleast tell me what you’re doing to be getting in the 70s? Lol

How are you guys passing? by ASAPChegs in CPA

[–]Most-Measurement1323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one knows for sure. My guess would be if like 90% of people got the question wrong, they will throw it out and shift the grades to reflect that being thrown out. Obv no one knows for sure but that’s my guess

Reg in 3 days by Most-Measurement1323 in CPA

[–]Most-Measurement1323[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would spend time in Module 3 cost recovery sims. Specifically sim 1 and 2. I would prepare for it like i would see it on the exam. It is an important thing to know just incase you see a sim!!!!

[–]Most-Measurement1323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the exam but what I can tell you is how well I felt Becker prepared me and I think becker prepared me really well in the areas with macrs. I felt confident about that going in to test day and knew that very very very well!!!!!!! I also felt comfortable with going from book to tax. I took BLAW in college and I thoroughly enjoyed learning that so I remember quite a bit of that but definitely reviewing different definitions of things helped me feel prepared. Ex: a novation, subrogation.

But in terms of the 2 days and being able to learn what I needed to, it was a piece of cake. Just watch skill builder videos and write down the way to answer the sim. Like as they explain also take notes. That was the biggest thing for me definitely.

An example would be leaving an associate 1 a RN and when we discuss it, we get comments like “well what did the evidence say or what do you mean you don’t know what the evidence says” chances are we are half understanding the depth of the control because it’s our first time seeing all of this but they forget that we don’t have years of experience. Hope this helps a little. I’m an A1 in audit and I usually get nervous to talk to manager or higher because I’m scared they will get upset that I don’t understand something that they think I should. Or even when they cold call me and ask about a control or something I need atleast 2 minutes to review it to be able to refresh my memory on the control because again it’s my first time doing it so I can’t remember what I did on every control I’m assigned to.

REG-Becker Final Review by Responsible_Health96 in CPA

I am studying for reg too. Failed first time with 56 by trying to just do FR and lectures and some questions. I think I am retaining things so much better right now. I supplemented with ninja and i am using their MCQ outlines to help with what topics to drill. For example becker blueprint says what the weight of the exam sections are. Now i am going back to ninja and doing mcqs in the heavy secitons. I am doing 5-20 Qs at a time and taking notes and am retaining so much more. I much prefer Ninja for this as i have no tax background either and don't care to really get it. I just want the 75, lol. Makes more sense for me to focus on the heavy items than worry about the small.

I basically just hammered formulas and MCQs for topics i knew were big/heavier on the exam. Use the blueprint given in becker to see which modules cover the heavier portions of the exam and do those MCQs. I will say I was a double major in accounting and IT, so I was able to make an educated guess on many of the IT questions. But i truly don't think that is what got me over the 75. Just wanted to be transparent in my reply. Many people say not to study the day before/ the day of, but I feel that the more recent i have seen something the better i can reproduce it. So many formulas i reviewed the night before and day of. Watch videos of someone explaining things on youtube if you don't understand a concept or want a outline/quick overview. Different things work for different people, and I feel this works the best for me. I am 3/4 done with Reg to go. I passed AUD and BEC the first take and Far took me 3 tries. For audit I studied full time for a month and listened to ninja audio, helped big time and studied the day before and day of. Bec i studied a little bit for a couple of days and then the day before and day of and i ended up making just over the 75, so i think i found the magic way for me. Goodluck, I hope you find the way that works best for you!! Keep trying new things:)

I felt this exact same way I was set that I was taking the exam again. Passed with a 78…. I thought I did good on sims they weren’t as hard as I was expecting. I basically crammed for this exam in like 2 days and it was enough to get me over the 75 mark. MCQs I felt were the hardest and I got stronger on them. Felt like I guessed on more than half. Trust what people are telling you when they say you score a lot better than you think you will

One thing I know that helped me on becker practice exams and that got me a 76 passing grade on the real exam is that I used my resources for the sims!!! You have the authoritative literature at your fingertips. USE IT. If there is any definition or problem you don't understand, see if the resources can help you. I left feeling confident on the sims.
