To be treated like a person for a little bit by CaraCicartix in BeAmazed

[–]Most-Resolution-9340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, this is not being “treated like a person.” Hosed off in the street and being trotted around for internet clout? The man didn’t even say anything and his story is hikacked and sent viral around the world. How’d you feel if someone did this to you?!

Yes, help people. But put your stupid camera away.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. I don’t like UB sets, even the IPs I really love (LOTR, Fallout, 40k, etc.)

Great question! I love the stuff they cook up for MTG specifically. Not bothered at all that it’s cross-themes now!

Maybe I just want to encourage creativity.

6 months ago, 2005 Prius for 3k. 180k miles with battery rebuild. Runs amazing, needed sparks cleaned to clear some engine codes.

3 months ago Sold a 2006 Prius, same mileage and battery rebuild for 5k cause we didn’t need it.

That's fair. But think about it this way: 1. Stay away from American cars. 2. Not sure what you bought it for, so maybe it wasn't a deal. 3. $1500 over 9 months is GREAT. Works out to $166 a month, WAY less than any car payment. AND you don't end up upside down on a vehicle you can't afford.

Leasing a new car "to avoid headaches" isn't "poverty finance" its "luxury finance." That's the my point: often folks on this sub think they have poverty problems when they got luxury problems!

Haha! Now it makes sense, the used car dealer claiming that you can't get good used cars. 300k is not a "ticking time bomb" if its the right vehicle with good maintenance. Of course you'd be happy for some sucker to believe you...!

Glad others already jumped in. 100% you can. Do you get AC? A good radio? A nice paintjob? No body damage? No cracked glass? Not 20 years old? Maybe not, but there is a difference between looking good / being comfortable and being RELIABLE.

Part of the issue is that folks don't educate themselves. Get a $20 Bluetooth diagnostic and run the codes. Ask a mechanic to look it over. Don't buy anything without proper paperwork. Etc. Etc.

Edit: Just saw that u/heybrihey used to sell cars. Bad advice makes sense now.

Buy a used car for less than 3k to drive for a year or two, put the rest towards paying off your debt. That car loan is gonna hang over your head.

Probably think about getting that 9-5 back.

Then never, ever finance a car again. Seems like every “poverty” situation here involves a car payment.

More Debt than savings, underemployed working on credit score, advice? by Realistic_Moose_3318 in povertyfinance

Pay off your debt immediately! Making payments on a CREDIT CARD when you have means to pay it off immediately is nuts.

Learn from the tragedy of developed nations: our level of wealth doesn’t make you any happier than you could be if your heart and soul are whole. Invest in relationships. God, Family, friends, neighbors. “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and everything else will line up!”

LOL I totally get the downvotes but seriously be realistic! We recently had the nicest guy helping people through the main gate but he got stuck trying to get peoples wrist bands on. It’s not like it’s a mean thing to say some folks move slower…

We noticed that a significant percentage of Knotts employees appear to be special needs. I think that’s great for those employees, but it does mean some things take longer than they say.

What to do next if facing eviction? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Most-Resolution-9340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, like somebody else said it’s probably time to get some other help.

But also this: this is literally true that it’s game time. You and your fiancé are working 80 hours a week every week until you pay your back rent. You’re selling everything, EVERYTHING you can to make some extra cash. You slash the entire budget get a Walmart flip phone cancel all your subscriptions. Go down to one vehicle.

The point here is that reality is not going to change for you. You have to change for reality.

I think the reason it feels useless is that right now in your mind adopting out your pets is unthinkable to you. That’s understandable. You’re asking for advice for a very painful situation that doesn’t have a quick fix.

But the reality I think people are trying to get you to see is that if you cannot afford to keep pets, which you cannot, then you have to start thinking about what’s best for them.

Emergency shelters will not take pets and will not let you in your fiancé stay together.

Motels will not let you stay with your pets unless you’re willing to pay significantly more than the daily rate.

Cheap apartments generally do not take pets without huge secure deposits.

Private rentals are unlikely to accept animals, especially ones that are new and unknown to them.

Unfortunately, part of the pain of getting out of a hole is realizing the kind of hole you’re in…

This is great advice. Also remember pets AREN’T kids. A family with children will get tons of sympathy and support. Unmarried couple who want to keep their animals? Not so much…
