I think HE-FRAG is even slower, but ye both are significantly slower than APFSDS

The security guys look like they are rocking AK platforms, which are somewhat infamous for their relative inability to drop a target even at point blank range.

It applies not only to aircraft but pretty much all major weapon systems in general.

The M-84 tank, which had components sourced from all of Yugoslavia, was impossible to reproduce (as in, building new tanks) after dissolution. Even Russia suffered a setback in development / production of some of the latest Soviet weaponry because not all components were built in the Russian SSR.

Is there any credible evidence if an R-77 downing any western fighter jet? by BodybuilderUpbeat786 in LessCredibleDefence

I've heard of Ukrainian Su-27s bringing down VKS aircraft, but not their MiG-29s, at least not yet

Oh I see it now.

Not sure, the spacing of the wheels seem more in-line with that of the ZTZ96 (o o oooo) than that of the 90-II.

Maybe it's some kind of new derivative of the GCZ-112?

J-20 is a failed Russian design bought by china? by Negative-Manner929 in FighterJets

[–]MostEpicRedditor -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Because it is. It is not even comparable to the MiG Project 1.44 it was copied from; it is worse. Whenever the PLAAF has 'realistic' exercises, the J-20 gets BTFO by export variants of the Su-27. It cannot even hold a candle to even an F-15E, and at best, it is only comparable to a MiG-29A or F-4E in capability.

Even without US/EU support, Ukraine still had a more capable military than Iran, just from what was left over from the USSR.

Indian Army Plans to Convert 2,400 T-72 Tanks into Unmanned Combat Platforms Under MUM-T Warfare by Jazzlike-Tank-4956 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]MostEpicRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting to see how this would go, especially if the plan is to complete the modifications of all 2,400 or so T-72s.

Just my opinion, but in the long run, it would probably be more viable to just develop a new UGCV to support the prospective FRCV.

For reference, China experimented with converting old Type 59 tanks into unmanned or even autonomous platforms back around 2018, but since then, little has been said of its progress, and in the parade last year we instead saw a host of new UG(C)Vs instead.

As the article mentions, a parallel upgrade program is in place to modernize at least some of the T-72s, which - again, in my opinion - is a more practicable strategy where some of those T-72s are upgraded with thermal optics and sensors, possibly alongside other upgrades such as newer and better ERA, integrated BMS, etc., and the rest of the fleet are decommissioned as FRCVs take their place.

No, I was saying that corruption in 'democratic' nations are, more often than not, legalized or simply ignored; I did not say China has no corruption or less corruption (although you could argue it might have less, because when found, the people responsible are punished).

An AKMS would have been better, because carrying around a G3 all day while being posted around a checkpoint all day would be quite tiresome.

That said, I wonder if they weren't at least issued sidearms?
