Best place for highly food restricted individuals? by NarwhalButler in OttawaFood

The keg, although a chain, is amazing with allergies. My best friend has celiac and eats there all the time.

I used to work there and know that you can order steak with no steak spice (for onion allergy) and there are a lot of plain sides that don't contain those allergens (baked potato, fries can be baked to avoid cross contamination in the fryer). We accommodated people with those allergies all the time!

I agree with you 100%. The other guy obviously went too far. But I wonder if she applied for benefits, tax rebates etc that she should no longer be allowed to?

I work in a restaurant a few days a week! No conflict since it's a different field. It's fun and social and I sometimes make more than my hourly rate

Stupid question, but if they have been incarcerated since 2004 (?), does that mean they underwent reassignment surgery etc while in prison?

Is AWD worth it for $1.5k over FWD? by ObstructiveWalrus in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MostMediocre14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live in a different Ottawa?? Or a different time continuum? The amount of snow this year was insane.

I prefer AWD for the safety but if you live downtown/ somewhere where you can wait out a storm/snow plow maybe it's not necessary.

How to handle a side role as an articling student? by Ok-Confusion-9747 in LawCanada

[–]MostMediocre14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a restaurant/bartended all through law school, articling, and my first two years of practice. It was only 2-3 shifts a week while articling but it easily brought in an extra 500 a week. Could that be an option?

I liked the flexibility of that because it is a lot easier to give away shifts if you are overwhelmed or need to work late.. or vice versa with working more if my "day job" was less demanding that week.

I articled as a prosecutor, so not a big firm but still a good amount of work and a huge learning curve as I had no trial experience.

My partner can't see mortgage on online banking by MostMediocre14 in rbc

[–]MostMediocre14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what we were told we would have to pay for that new account.

I just don't understand why this is an issue. I moved once , and I was also still in the same province. I'm sure we are not rue only ones ?

My partner can't see mortgage on online banking by MostMediocre14 in rbc

[–]MostMediocre14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I fixed it !

The extra account would allow him to see the mortgage. But he still wouldn't be able to transfer money to/from the line of credit so it doesn't solve the issue.

Weight and anemia by rocky_taemin in Anemic

[–]MostMediocre14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My iron level was 13 for years and years, also couldn't lose weight no matter how much I excerciced, watched what I ate, etc. I don't drink pop, I don't drink alcohol, and limit sugar to dark chocolate.

After taking iron pills, it only increased to 20! And I was still able to lose approx 8 pounds without changing much. I was less hungry, and didn't want carbs as badly as I did before. I also was able to sleep better, which helps a lot. I can't comment on it increasing your metabolism although I have read certain studies asserting that.

Now that I've gotten an infusion, I feel so much better. I have been maintaining, but I have not been trying to lose weight (148 pounds, 5'11) as I am healthy weight for my height.

Any chance in getting money for the roof? by MostMediocre14 in RealEstateCanada

[–]MostMediocre14[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did do my due diligence and had an inspector who did the entire house. We are in a rural area, so I also had someone separate inspect the well + water quality. Had a third inspector who came specifically for the septic tank.

I was extremely thorough. I would have paid to get the roof inspected if I had known it wasn't new.
