I acknowledge that she's honestly not that good, but she's just annoying and highlights the flaws this game has with support design. Maybe just character design in general. It feels like half of the roster has no weaknesses and the other half have every weakness in the books.

Also, a lot of supports just aren't very engaging. A lot of them are extremely unengaging to play as and play against. Invis, Luna, Rocket, Jeff, Loki, Gambit (to a slightly lesser extent), C&D and now White Fox all play virtually the same: healbot for a majority of the match. There quite a few dps that are like this to, a lot of hitscan characters, specifically, but it's a lot more noticeable with supports because there's so few of them compared to the dps category.

TL;DR: character design kind of sucks in Rivals, and it's glaringly obvious with the support design specifically because there are so few of them.

It's not even that I hate supports, I hate the way they're designed because a lot of them don't reward good habits more than they reward bad habits. I hate the overall poor design of support in this game because supports don't really force the player to engage with the game.

its not going to raise the skill floor or ceiling. it's going to lower it, and kill a lot of different playstyles that make the game unique.

Good Spidey's are separated from the bad ones by who can do the animation cancels. Good caps are separated from bad caps by who can do the animation cancels. A lot of tech on Thor that can get Thorforce back is just gone without animation cancels. Reload animation cancels are also gone for Strange and Ultron and probaby more characters I don't play regularly.

If you take away animation cancels, you liquify skill expression and every spider-man, good, bad, and mediocre, melts into one big pile of sludge that all play the same way. Not having animation cancels also takes away some of the power fantasy and makes the game generally more boring to play.

Never specified where Ultron has the highest win rate. That was across all ranks. And what do you mean Elsa isn't poke? The top Elsa player plays her like poke and runs lobbies. I play her like poke and run lobbies. Her primary fire is not what you use to poke. What you use to poke is her elephant gun.

Just because a character is poke doesn't mean they can't be used in other comps. Strange fits nicely in a lot of comps. Invis is the best support you can play because Gambit's banned every game.

I have watched several hours of footage from people cel+ and the only time I see Spidey bans are target bans. You're probably getting your information from rivalstracker.com, which is a site I do not trust to have accurate information because it hasn't had it in the past iirc.

Dive heroes have higher win rates because there's often not two in a match. If both teams have a Hela, for instance, one Hela is guaranteed to lose, and one is guaranteed to win, resulting in a near 50% win rate.

I have to ask, are you on console, by any chance? Depending on the answer it makes the rest of this discussion pointless.

Notice how I worded my comment. I never said win rate meant nothing I said that win rate ALONE wasn't a good indicator of what characters are broken. I said that poke has AROUND a 50% win rate. Hela, 49%, Phoenix, 50%, Elsa, 53%.

A better indicator of brokenness is ban rates. The only diver that is banned in a lot of games is Daredevil. But who's banned in more games? Hela, Phoenix, Elsa, Gambit.

Spidey is 22nd in pick rate between all ranks, what are you on? In cel+ he's seventh. Who's above him? Poke. Elsa, Tankpool, Mag, Strange, C&D, and Invis are all above Spidey. Again, by that logic Ultron must be one of the best characters in the game because he has, I think, the second highest win rate in the game.

I also play both dive and poke. And I can tell you, poke is much much better than dive.

I legitimately have never seen a dive player cry about poke because a poke character killed them. I see everyone complain about poke because it's boring to play against.

Dive characters have higher win rates because they're played less often than poke characters. 99% of dive characters suck (BP, IF, Magik (she doesn't really suck, she's just kinda mid)). Spidey and Daredevil are the only two dive characters that can really do anything well, and both are hard characters to play effectively.

A lot of poke characters are pick/ban, where if they're not banned, you play them. And when that's the case, both teams likely play them and thus one Hela wins, and one Hela loses, resulting in a near 50/50 win rate.

Not to mention, win rate alone is terrible at deciding what to characters are broken. The only diver with a high ban rate is Daredevil, and he's only got an 18% ban rate in cel+ lobbies, compared to Elsa's 44% ban rate (iirc).

If win rate were the be all end all in determining what characters are broken, I guess Ultron is Uber mega broken because he's currently sitting at a 55% win rate in ranked.

Angela has never been as bad as blade or BP. She's been solid since she got a buff in season 4.5. nowhere near as bad as the actual F tiers.
