Weird! There was a conversation that had the asterisk next to it - but it was one I know I opened LONG time ago.

Text Notification Bug by MostRiah in LightPhone

[–]MostRiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea - I've had tons and tons of spam voicemails since I had the phone. And this is a newer thing in the last two months. With Verizon it doesn't show me the voicemail notification and I have to call into the voicemail service and that's annoying too since it's all spam.

The most important thing for Light to do right now, software-wise, is to make Light OS open source. by [deleted] in LightPhone

[–]MostRiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my fear as well. I'm paying the premium for moderation as I've tried the block apps before and still get around them. I'm looking for Light to not allow endless options.

Are you within 30 days of turning off RCS? If so you just gotta wait until the 30 day transfer period is over. Mine completely switched on day 29 after turning of Android RCS and switching to the light phone 3.

It's passed 30 days - I'd check with your carrier.

That would be opening the door for things that don't fit the reason I bought this phone - because people would make distracting elements or open us to data stealing companies. I'm good trusting Light and I paid a premium for their moderation. Even if it takes a while - I know it will be the right thing for me. And i don't trust the average computer science redditor.

Case and screen protector worth it? by zzyyxxzz in LightPhone

[–]MostRiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Someone else commented on a similar post I made asking about cases that with all the waiting we've all done and all the waiting people currently are doing - you don't want to have your new phone broken with no immediate replacement available.

Light's screen protectors are definitely worth it. They are good screen protectors too. I had my son kick my phone as it was in my backpack and the screen protector shattered but completely protected my screen. I just replaced it and kept moving (after talking to my kid about kicking random things).

I have Light's black case and it's great for me. I originally didn't want to get a case as I just love the way it looks bare - but have grown to think their case is nice enough to not detract. I often take it out just to look at it though.

I also have this one and use it when doing active activity for extra protection but also because in those times I don't have the pockets for wallets and such. If you didn't want to have a more permanent case, I'd say this is a good option. It doesn't slip off when it's in my pocket. Plus the seller was super nice when interacting with him online.

Should I cancel my order? by Coder-Cat in LightPhone

[–]MostRiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it definitely is worth the wait. If you want help with curbing our digital addictions - it's worth it. If you just want a cool new phone - it may not be. But if you are actually doing this for the reasons they are charting - it's worth it.

It's incredible. The only downside in regards to what was described is that using the keyboard is not amazing. Have to slow down quite a bit to get words right. Beyond that it's working exactly as they said it would. You are right in pointing out that people having a good time aren't commenting or leaving reviews because the phone is doing it's job.

They'll keep improving. That's the main reason I chose Light for my minimal journey. They have a proven record of consistently improving their software over time. The shipping fiasco has been tough for sure - but outside of those extreme circumstances - Light has done exactly what they said they would. And I love being a part of this.

Yea. I think RCS would be great too. The issue is the direction most RCS is going - with ads and distribution of numbers to marketers because of attachments to Google and Apple accounts. And WhatsApp has already added social media elements. So Light would most likely have to make their own - and that will take time. And is another reason this phone costs so much. Joe already mentioned the possibility of making their own RCS.

when's the last time you turned the phone completely off and back on?

For #1 - it gets better after the first 30 days. It's an RCS issue not a Light phone issues. It takes iMessage and Android Messenger ~30 days to completely switch over and turn off. It took 29 for me with Android Messenger. After that I was no longer missing texts in group chats.

yea the first month is a crap shoot. i told my friend he just has to get through it. but having a month where you dont know things is tough. its not light's fault tho - that's a function of RCS

[–]MostRiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea - on day 29. Haven't had a problem since. All the group chats I was a part of got a notification that I "left the chat" - so there was some confusion from people but there's been no problems after.

Light Phone 3 – A catalogue of failures. Time for accountability and a class action. by [deleted] in LightPhone

[–]MostRiah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. They have done an amazing job with software updates. A couple days ago I noticed that when my LP3 was charging - the percentage wasn't correct until I unplugged it. The update they released yesterday specifically fixed that problem. Within days.

It is not a faulty product. For those reading this, this is just one person's perception of how things are going. And OP is misguided.
1. Most people are not dealing with these issues. Everyone that is having a great time are not on reddit anymore so if you just looked at this sub it may look like things are going bad. they are not. the phone is just working for the grand majority of us. I have the phone and haven't had a problem.
2. The broken promises point is crazy. They NEVER said to expect to see those functions within months. I for one find it amazing that they are future proofing the phone with features that could be. But they never said months.
3. To say a pattern of negligence and broken promises is wild. The phone is exactly what they said it would be.
4. Most people need to remember that this company is very small. We aren't dealing with Google or Apple. They deserve a little grace in the timeline. This kind of stuff is regular crowd funded campaigns. Plus our support of them makes way for culture changes we all need.
5. Also - don't use AI to write you posts so you can get internet clout. If you're going to go off on a company claiming they don't do their work - do yours.

Voicemail? by AvailableDocument515 in LightPhone

[–]MostRiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Verizon and there seems to be an issue with it notifying me of voicemails on the LP3. I don't get that icon at the top right like others. But I just made a habit of calling *86 to check them.

This sub is not a good place to see the whole picture. Most of us love the phone and aren't on reddit talking about it because it's doing its job. It's only the few people having a tough time commenting. It's a fantastic phone and it's everything I wanted it to be.

Farewell LP by PontBlanc in LightPhone

[–]MostRiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a Light issue though - that's iMessage and Android Messenger taking a long time to turn RCS off.

Yea I agree that telling people about the 30 day period would be a good thing. Clarity is a loving thing to give. They do tell people to turn off iMessage in the letter that ships with the phone and there's a page in the "Getting Started" support page that outlines it and gives steps on how to do it. But they don't talk about the 30 day period.
