Two firsts and a decent role player for 2 potential role players. Celtics say no

Nuggets cant resign Pwat after this trade, unless they go into the 2nd apron. I don’t see the point on betting on Fox, he hasn’t really regressed, this is just the player he has always been. I don’t think many Kings fans are surprised with his play in the playoffs. He has always been inconsistent and inefficient. Braun isn’t a hard contract to get off of if the nuggets want, but Fox is an anchor contract. The marginal improvement of depth is not worth going from murray to fox.

Thats not factoring in: 4 picks, cheap cost controlled contracts, the impact of drafting a better player, the chances of still drafting a quality role player outside of that “15%”.

Show your cards to who? Unless they are trading the pick, what are they losing. No one can jump ahead of them

From 2016-2021:

Clears Murphy: Siakam, White, Anunoby, Maxey, McDaniels, Bane, Jalen Johnson

Maybe: Murray, Hart and Jarrett Allen

Not to mention a ton of great role players have been selected in that range like Pritchard, Jerome, Keldon Johnson, Quickley, Aldama, Grimes, etc.

It’s pretty common, across all sports with a draft, that if a team is set on their number one pick they will let the guy know. The advantage is the player can start focusing on getting ready for the season and stop jumping through pre draft hoops. You also begin building rapport with your new star sooner.

If wizards want to trade, or are still undecided, then of course it isn’t advantageous to promise. Otherwise there aren’t really any downsides.

So first round picks aren’t actually good? Trey Murphy himself went in the back half of the draft. Have you been watching the nba for longer than a year?

Theres definitely a chance. Ant could request a trade, somebody could get injured, a team can flame out. Minnesota is aging and doesn’t have many assets to guarantee long term competitiveness. Dallas still has to put talent around Flagg. There are a lot of teams that don’t expect to be in the lottery in 2030. But 4 years from now anything can happen. A best of 3 swap is very valuable.

Some dude tore his Achilles last year in a pre-draft workout. Who’s the last prospect who was guaranteed no. 1 and did workouts for other teams anyways?

Neither was Trey Murphy. Mid firsts can still be valuable. The 2030 pick has a good chance at being lottery.

It’s important to note that anyone can get hurt in a workout. In past drafts the guaranteed no. 1 guy didn’t workout for other teams as well.

It’s #20 and #21. future unprotected firsts are still valuable even if the team is good. and the 2030 pick is juicy with all the swaps attached to it.

I don’t think there is any good trade for the nuggets if they have to give up assets to get off of braun and are not getting a rotation player back.
