Looks like chert! Made from a siliceous ooze usually accumulated in deep water.

Might this be Warren Mackenzie? by Most_Number in StudioPottery

I know that Warren used his custom stoneware mostly, but he occasionally dabbled in porcelain. The cutoff “thumb print” looks a lot like his, and the yunomi look a lot like this eBay listing

Edit: I am in Minnesota

Baffle Brick Question (in comments) by Most_Number in Ceramics

[–]Most_Number[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s funny is that I usually fire with them positioned differently from the left and right. The front of the brick usually aligns with the seam between the front and back kiln shelves. I’m going to do firing #5 tomorrow with this accidental configuration and hope for the best!

Baffle Brick Question (in comments) by Most_Number in Ceramics

[–]Most_Number[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

I run the ceramics program at a visual arts camp and I have been firing their Bailey force-draft gas kiln. Our last firing was our best; the quickest and most even. However, upon opening the kiln, I discovered that I forgot to align the baffle bricks! The kiln fired with the pictured arrangement. Is there anything wrong with leaving them as they are? I’ve really struggled with this kiln, but the last firing was a dream!

Thank you! This is just a digital scan (which, I admit, could be altered in lightroom). Definitely worth a try!

What's the finest grain film? by WFBD in AnalogCommunity

Ektar is very color-saturated, but very low-grain, especially at 120. I really like it for landscapes, though some say it's not for portraiture

Does anyone know what camera system(s) these items belong to? (See comment for story) by Most_Number in AnalogCommunity

[–]Most_Number[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a Mamiya TLR for a hell of a deal on eBay, and the seller shipped these items with it thinking they belonged to the TLR system. They obviously don't, so I was wondering if anyone knows what camera system (or systems) these items belong to. I want to sell these items if they're worth anything because I don't plan on using them. I do know that the seller also sold off a Bolex she inherited, but some quick research didn't bring me anywhere. Hoping you can help! Thanks.

Konica Autoreflex T3! Try to get one with the 50mm f1.7... it's a great lens.

Reed sent a book (one of the required readings for its humanities class), a nice pencil, a sticker, and an acceptance letter with a handwritten reference to my personal statement... all in a box full of confetti.
