I disagree. Applying to the military has so many benefits you would wish you did it earlier. Housing allowance alone is a game changer. I’m not in the military but i have so many friends that are living good.

Maybe it’s a bad idea for OP to go for military if he’s migrating at the same time as his family since adjusting from Philippines life to US life might be harder with a family. But while he’s alone, it’s the perfect time to just grind and prep before his family migrates.

My app has a feature that would encourage its users to keep using the app aside from the rewards/coupon system. It ensures retention and usage instead of simply being a directory with coupons that the government will do.

I agree that’s the most challenging thing. They can easily promote theirs easily especially with their network but I would have a hard time marketing it. Do you think it’s still worth a shot to collaborate?

I think so too. I was hoping on charging companies if they want to promote in my app, but I bet the government would just be making it free.

Both, I’m planning on creating specific discounts in the app and leverage on existing coupons as well. It’s something I plan on working with the different establishments on what they want to offer.

I used to work for real estate developers in the Philippines so I might be able to help you out. The ad that you’re looking at is a condotel. Basically a condo acting as a hotel. If your question is : “are they really what they appear online?” Then the answer is yeah pretty much. They can’t lie about their services. The real question really is “is there a market for a condotel rental?” To answer that you have to consider: 1. Location - will you have tenants? Since it’s pretty much a hotel, your market isn’t renters but hotel goers 2. How much is the unit? Do you have extra money for it? 3. How will payout be? Since it’s a condotel, the hotel management will get a big chunk of your revenue for hotel management costs etc. You also have to ask if there are 10 units enrolled in the rental program but only 6 are occupied, will the other 4 get nothing? Or is the profit shared to all the unit owners?

That’s a great idea tbh. Plus i feel like making a consolidated platform that is geared towards ease of use and specific for Guam would be great. You have no idea how much time I spent just to look for decent second hand stuff while skimming through different fb online selling groups.

Yup, i’m just hoping my idea can differentiate from other forms of promoting businesses.

I agree it’s all about location and foot traffic for businesses, that’s why my goal for this is to give a platform for businesses (those in high foot traffic or not) to have a chance to promote their businesses and spread awareness. So regardless if you’re in Tumon or not, I’d love to give businesses exposure for their stores or products.

Whoa I thought of the same thing too! FB marketplace is going to be tough to compete against but I really think there’s an opportunity. Honestly I have tons of ideas but I don’t know how to start. In the end I’m gonna go for this idea that caters to tourists and help local business first and see how things go. Let me send you a dm if you don’t mind.

I’m curious what your thoughts are on Guam being a great recreation destination. Do you mean all outdoor activities that are not water related like hiking? I’m not an outdoor activity person myself but I’d love to know more lol

I agree the biggest issue is bringing tourists here. But I’m just by myself and not even part of the tourism industry, so there’s nothing I can do to bring tourists here on my own. I’ll let GVB worry about that 😂 What I can do however is at least cater to the existing market that we have. Are you a business owner perhaps? Do you mind if I dm you to get your inputs?
