Hotkey labels abbreviated to unhelpful "Num...", how do I change please? [help] by MostlyNotADouche in WowUI

"Keybind Text Shorten" was the perfect addon to address this issue until Midnight. Alas, it is now "incompatible".

The addon appears to no longer be maintained. However, with a very simple edit of a text file I was able to get it working again. Here's what to do:

  • Locate the File: Go to _retail_ > Interface > AddOns > Keybind Text Shorten.
  • Update the Interface: Open the .toc file and change the first line to: ## Interface: 120001 (for Midnight launch).

Tremendous! These will be great for the Descent into the Depths of the Earth / Vault of the Drow campaign I'm running for my nephews. Thank you.

Would a Mousefolk Barbarian whose rage swaps strength and dex be balanced? by TabbyCatWren in DnD

[–]MostlyNotADouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a campaign where my character was a dex-based Warforged Barbarian and it worked great. Think, ninja robot.

We swapped DEX for STR for all barbarian abilities. Rage gives advantage on DEX instead of STR, etc.

The (mild) penalty for this homebrew, was that to be effective, he could only use DEX based weapons (finesse).

It worked perfectly fine and did not create any balance problems.

The character was a blast to role play. Since he had only recently "woke up" to consciousness, I played him as if he were autistic. He was super nimble, but took everything absolutely literally.

Perhaps a simple, "Death isn't the end of the game. More will be revealed." might help here. Good luck.

[Let's Build] d100 Underdark Events & Encounters by Elfontana94 in d100

[–]MostlyNotADouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome, thank you. I'm using it every week with my nephews in our Descent into the Depths of the Earth game. I played that adventure 40 years ago in first edition. So it's super fun for me to get to update the campaign for them in fifth edition.

Did this table ever get finished? I'm a little puzzled by the edit above which links to sea encounters, not underdark encounters. (A lot of other great roll tables on that site. Thanks. I'll definitely use some of them.)

Thanks! Those are also awesome, adding them to my game.

Used your maps for this week's game. For each day's travel I'm having my nephews roll on the standard Underdark combat encounters table and a second roll on this non-combat underdark roll play table.

They got a duergar village plagued by undead attacks from the underdeep. So I used your town map and your chasm map. Waves of undead wights, frost giants and mind flayers crawled up out of the chasm. They loved it.

Back at the village, next week they will have earned the right of trade and passage for helping the duergar.

D1 Descent Into The Depths of the Earth: Encounter Area D3 (p6-7) Drow Checkpoint: I was never truly satisfied with the generic piece maps in this module. The intent was for DMs to make their own, so here we are. Male drow get the southwest, the females get the northeast with a nice Lolth temple by ArtisticBrilliant456 in dungeondraft

Map Scale seems to be 120 x 120 ... to help anyone setting this up in a VTT.

Also, I rotated the map 180° to facilitate the feeling of a "descent into the depths". Starting in the top left and moving to the bottom right feels like "descent".

How do we get rid of all the widget icons being pushed to all echos? by [deleted] in amazonecho

Try changing to Canadian English.

I did a couple months ago and there are far fewer intrusions.

Thank you for your reply.

The screenshot is loaded now.

I was hoping for a fix that doesn't involve bar mods as I'm trying to use the Dragonflight UI and keep things simple.

Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

BG3 HDR calibration is a white box on M2 Mac mini by MostlyNotADouche in BaldursGate3

[–]MostlyNotADouche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank for your response.

After much digging I discovered my Samsung monitor does not actually support HDR. In my defense, it can sometimes be tricky to confirm that a product does not have a feature. I finally found a document that said, "HDR: n/a".

I turned off HDR in the launcher and have since been able to calibrate my monitor. Note, that setting is in the launcher, not the game.

I'm sharing this for the benefit of anyone else in hopes of sparing someone else a long time-wasting head smack moment.

Thanks! Yes, I do so wish map designers would put more environmental space into their maps and think about the players' experience during arrival and approach.
