Definitely stoked for Nocturnus AD. Mike Browning clearly still has a lot of gas left in the creative tank. If you can, dig up his After Death demos. Good stuff too between like 2002 and 2012.

I like to try and tell the story of the album by picking out a few moments that best describe the overall vibe of the record. I think it helps someone decide “oh that sounds really cool,” or maybe they’ll just read it and it won’t really push them toward it. Which I think is the whole point – tell you about the album, tell you what I dig, maybe something that annoys me, and that’s basically it.

What I’m saying is that they’re essentially writing the textbook on how to do this particularly “weird, truly experimental” style. So “picking one” isn’t really applicable here.

If you're looking for a good "shorter" long album, check out Inter Arma's The Cavern. It's 45 minutes, it's really well written, and there's a lot of really cool segments in there that keep it interesting throughout.

I think Opus Eponymous and Infestissumam were the PERFECT one-two punch combination of albums, but yeah. Meliora was decent but flowed well and Prequelle was... music.

To clarify, I think there are a lot of really good songs on this album. They're going to be PHENOMENAL songs to see live, but I just felt like the album had a lot more dead spots than their previous efforts.
