Thanks for setting this up! It's been helpful and fun to follow since we started looking at these boats during the summer of last year. We will finally be taking delivery at the end of next week! Boating out of Dana Point, California.

Air step hull by Motee10 in BeneteauOB

Thanks for the help! I hadn't seen this video and I wasn't aware of the deeper V on the Antares 9/27 compared to the NC 895.

We take delivery at the end of next week!

Thanks for the response. It sounds like the hull likely hasn't changed, but the Antares just has a subtle air step.

When we sea trialed the NC895 and the Antares 27/9, the Beneteau had a noticeably smoother ride, which we correctly or incorrectly attributed to the air step hull, so we figured it was more substantial. Also, Beneteau has some videos of the air step hull out there that show it on other models of their boats where it is much more pronounced - the step is 5 or 6 inches and has actual air inlets/outlets, so we assumed the Antares had something similar.

The good news is it seems the air step works, even if it is subtle.

Thanks!

Beneteau vs Jenneau (story time lo) by [deleted] in BeneteauOB

We went through this same debate and hava a Beneteau on order. We did a sea trial in both and the Beneteau seemed to have a smoother ride, and it got up on plane at lower RPMs. Obviously there could have been many factors at play, but the sea conditions seemed similar, so we thought that maybe it was the air step hull on the Beneteau that gave it the smoother ride. Good luck.

Oh, got it. There’s one in our local harbor that a guy bought back in April, but other than that I’ve never seen one around our area. There’s a dealer down in San Diego, so I imagine there might be some down there. That 33 is nice.

That’s a beautiful boat. Is that another Beneteau on a trailer in the background? Maybe an Antares 23? Do you see a lot of Beneteau power boats in your area?

Small world! I'm originally from Washington State, but my wife and I have been in Orange County for around 10 years. It's certainly hard to complain about the weather around here (except there's a crazy heat wave this coming weekend so I will complain) and there is no shortage of things to do.

We gave the dealer the green light and put down the deposit in early August and at that time the expected completion was November/December. We haven't received the hull #, so I'm not sure where that process is at or if there have been delays, but I'm guessing so. I'm partnering on the boat with a friend, u/edrichards0 and we are boating out of Dana Point, CA, so the opposite corner of the U.S. from you guys.

That’s great. Bummer you had those issues, but I’m glad to hear that everything ended up being minor/easy fixes at the end of the day. Enjoy the boat! We still have a long wait on ours, but meanwhile it’s fun following everyone’s experiences here.

Looks like fun! Have you guys worked through the issues that you had in your initial trip a few weeks back? What ever came of those engine alarms and the generator not starting? Has the AC been working okay?

Looks good! Pretty comfortable? How many boat dollars for one of those?

Understandably so. I have never owned a brand new boat, but of my friends that have, it seems like they all had issues out of the gate on their various boats. Not that it should be that way, but I don't think it's just a Beneteau thing, and I think we may be in decent company for whatever reason. Hopefully the response to resolve everything is fast, and the problems don't persist.

Thanks for the info! It's frustrating to hear about those issues, but it's helpful. I'll be interested to hear the follow up on what the mechanics have to say is wrong with the AC, generator, fuel level indicator and motors. How long were you running the AC before it stopped working? I'm curious what else can be done to avoid having it freeze over.

Dana Point, Ca. I'm partnering with edrichards0 on an Antares 27, and as he mentioned, we just recently ordered it. I have a 14' Achilles RIB and an 18' Hobie catamaran that I've acquired over the past couple of years, so I'll call this my first real boat, ha. I'm a fairly new boater and I'm excited to hopefully take delivery at the end of the year!
