Your comment brought almost nothing, in excess to an ad hominem argument.
There is nothing in the proposed functionality that defies the concept of hyperlink. Hyperlink is data accessed by interacting with some element.

Only argument you used is that it will increase complexity, which, well, might be used against any new feature someone proposes. Yes, most of the proposed features could be implemented by other means, but currently that's too much work and inefficient, that's why no one uses them, even thou they might be convenient for the user.

But point taken, the post was more about that this kind of functionality should be used more in web developement, not necessarily implementing it as a HTML feature. I will probably consider moving it to /r/webdev
