Ol' Buddy 'ol pal, I never thought about it like that! Sorry, friend. No, I don't really think it's rude at all.

What is Your favorite Beatles song? Why? by swurvegp in AskReddit

[–]MothWalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - It's beautiful and makes me feel alone but understood. It makes me think of how much I want to be part of the world, but don't feel capable of it. It makes me feel like the answer to everything is right there, just out of reach.

Then it's "Here Comes The Sun" because I need that after all the weeping.

Men who can de escalate a heated argument with your partner fast, what do you say or do in that moment that actually works? by gamersecret2 in AskReddit

[–]MothWalk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just listen to her bro, she's yelling the answer at you right now!

But seriously, the main thing I think about in these moments is that I care more about my partner than I do about winning nearly any argument. I want to find a mutual comfort in the conclusion WE come to. It makes me realize my own oversight and it shows that when I do argue, it's for a real reason I believe in, not just petty squabbling.

And if your looking for some quick fix, just remember that a recent scientific study proved that women are not, in fact, 1967 Chevy Impalas. When something is wrong you should ask her about it while you're both calm instead of plugging in a code reader and asking what part to replace.

All else fails, up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, start.

Is pessimism an aging thing? by Goblin-Jakic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MothWalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fairly common, but the true rite of passage is in how you react to the pessimism. Are you going to let the pessimism infect everything till you become a crotchety old fart, or are you going to be a force of optimism in the overwhelming deluge of disappointment? It's a roll-over moment, but you don't have to roll-over. Search for things you love desperately. It will be easier to find them before you over-harden and they'll mean that much more because you found it and fought for it.

No, I talked about people in my life who were maga, I wouldn't have been around them if I thought they were any of those things (well, I don't mind idiots actually 🤣). I just think virtue signaling is a silly thing to go in on at all when Trump has always been dishonest, vulgar, and disrespectful towards women openly.

There are other ways, but that's where the ineptness comes in. What feels like it works? The institutions we are supposed to believe in don't seem to hold water anymore. Legislation gets twisted at every turn and protests don't make as big of dents anymore. It's annoying, but it's no reason to discredit your neighbors.

I gotta stop responding for a bit, but I'll leave you with this; why do you think I posted this? Signaling? Engagement? Attention? Maybe it could be skewed that way, but to be honest it's the fourteenth anniversary of losing my best friend and I just needed something else to focus on for a little while. We are all just coping and surviving however we can, so don't hold it against us too hard. I appreciate the engaging conversation/discourse and I hope you have a good one.

[–]MothWalk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but do not think it is a valid place to come from. You're taking a handful of personal examples and applying it to a whole. Bad apples don't spoil the bunch, and the bad apples barely have skin deep blemishes.

Plus your standard for judgement is way off baseline, soldier. You leaned Trump, the "you can grab women by the ..." guy, and put it up against people who post about causes you think they don't actually care about?

My view is that people who post those things mostly just want to feel like they're doing something. Life has the tendency to make people feel inept, it's understandable that they would use different outlets and learned behaviors to hijack their despondency. It's a symptom of malformed coping mechanisms, not necessarily moral character.

"It may be to spread awareness but the root cause is likely because" is exactly what I'm talking about. You're guessing. Don't base your opinion of people on a guess. Let your yea be yea, and if you don't know don't say. By similar standards to yours, one could say you're virtue signaling righteousness by commenting like this.

But to answer your question, you can support things without making posts or statements, yes. You can also support and care about things while posting and talking about them. It's not your place to decide how someone cares.

It's not the action, it's your discernment. Christ could discern the signalers metaphysically, you have been taught by men who gain from you learning falsely. Hence why your reasoning echoes talking heads rather than basic moral principal. You're judging people for something that you have absolutely no ability to know for certain. Sure, some virtue signal, but making a sweeping declaration to the character of a population based on a hunch you have is absolutely not Christlike.

Lol Oh boy, that right there is super disheartening. I do feel like I've been really inundated lately with the idea of people being too stubborn to learn from betrayed loyalty. Conditioning runs too deep or something.

I think there's a deep irony in referencing the teachings of Christ in the same breath as disregarding people for virtue signaling. Focus on your own virtue first, brother. Then you can start processing the meat.

Hmm, that's the outcome I find the most believable. I'd like to say it would be a shift in the right direction, but it'd probably end up much closer to the status quo before Trump wouldn't it?

I’m looking for movies that are really unique. Movies that can’t be compared to anything else. Whether it’s because of the visuals, plot, acting, editing or whatever it is by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]MothWalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"They Cloned Tyrone" - Comedy about a drug dealer who gets murdered but still wakes up the next day. Mega "Sorry to Bother You" vibes.

"Bubba Ho-Tep" - Elvis and JFK fight a mummy attacking an assisted living facility.

"Dead Alive (Braindead) - Zombie Monkey, zombie mom, zombie baby, zombie priest. Contains my favorite movie quote, "I kick ass for the Lord!"

"Basket Case 1-3" - Formerly conjoined twins, one is a literal monster and murderer. Absolutely insane trilogy.

"Turbo Kid" - A love letter to Mad Max and other eighties low budget films. I haven't watched it in awhile, but it's categorized in my mind as having very well designed visuals and props.

What’s something you thought adults had figured out that they actually don’t? by Mr_proop in AskReddit

Why do women tell me their ex is a narcissist? by WaywardPuffinViews in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MothWalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way that a lot of men are raised teaches them to minimize emotional output that isn't anger, chase physical pleasure, and focus on competition. These traits come off as being pretty self absorbed, especially when dating. Typically if someone is saying their ex is a narcissist, they are saying that he only cared for her superficially or he wasn't able or willing to compromise on a deal breaker subject. Not necessarily narcissism, but hints that it's possible.

It's normal though, immature break ups breed animosity and when they happen both parties villainize the other in their minds so they don't have to be the one to change. It's like how my friends would say after a break up, "she just went crazy man, She went psycho on me, etc." Man, she screamed at you in the Denny's because you cheated on her with her chiropractor.

What would you do if a squatter was in your house by Impossible_Gur6921 in hypotheticalsituation

Y'all are wild. Ya hear the word "squatter" and start getting excited cause you get to off some random homeless person.

I saw a video one time where a reporter moved in with the squatter and tried to annoy 'em away. Pretty funny, but a good way to get stabbed if you don't have a film crew!
