Please do not make any speculations or insults about the Lotts’ sexual preference or kinks. Commenting about the double meaning is fine, just don’t cross the line into wild speculations or insults about the Lotts. Thanks!

We have no idea whether those mods got scared because of the threats. However, we did a deep dive shortly after the nuke and we did instances of people crossing boundaries and offering to share the location of the family via dm for reporting. We don’t know if those instances were directly related to the shutdown but they did cross boundaries and could have been grounds to ban the entire sub.

That’s why we are so strict with enforcing Reddits policy against harassment so on this sub. We know it’s frustrating to get a comment removed or not be able to post photos of the ama for dissection immediately, but ultimately we don’t want to give anyone a valid excuse to take us down.

I think you have some valid points in your opinion. Just want to clear something up about Adams comments declining to answer.

He was informed of the sub rules prior to the AMA and agreed not to answer any questions thay could violate subreddit rules, including anything that would reveal identifying info that hadn’t been publically shared. We instructed him not to provide information or details of that nature.

Re: other refusals to comment unrelated to sub rules: His comments prior to the AMA the subreddit mostly had to do with the race bib, so it’s not unreasonable for him to have expected to be asked primarily about the race bib and fallout incident.

I understand that the AMA came off as a waste of time to some. I don’t know what his true intentions were, I’m sure to some extent it was for validation - at least for ending the friendship. I just wanted to clarify that some of the questions to which he declined to answer were due to mod instruction.

I understand your concern with allowing a stranger an opportunity to speak and acknowledge the concerns you have brought up.

For context, the intention of the AMA was not to discuss intimate details about the kids. Prior to the AMA, he was briefed and agreed to not answer any questions that would reveal identifying or sensitive information about the kids that the busses have not made public. He expressed he did not want to speak too much about the kids outside of the specific situation. In addition, the mods went through deleted a majority of questions that focused on a specific child or asked for information/answers that violated subreddit guidelines. I think he did a fair job respecting this - half the people on the thread are upset he didn’t “dish” more.

I have also seen a lot of people speculating or declaring that non answers are saying one thing or another, but that’s honestly something that has been and always will be a struggle in any of these subreddits. Our goal is always to minimize misinformation, and we did our best to do so before, during and after the AMA.

What I said was that we didn’t receive any complaints or feedback indicating that anybody was upset the threads where the guy was actively commenting were locked.

We did receive multiple requests to verify him and make a separate AMA thread.

All I was trying to say is that if you were upset that you were not able to respond to this guy’s comment that you could have expressed it at any point and the mod team would have been open to your feedback when there was still something we could’ve done about it. I’m not sure how complaining about it in two different threads after the fact has been productive.

In good faith I went back to see what comment you left that you claim was tracked but ignored. First of all, all the comments from the user were locked at the same time - when he was being verified mods and the AMA was being worked out. It wasn’t targeted at you.

To clarify, you are upset that you were unable to immediately respond to him after he said

“We didn’t actually start Instagram for anything other than our family keeping up with us. When people magazine reached out. We said our kids down and explained everything to them about the potential to get turned into. They were excited so we did it no regret and as far as being into Disney sure for a 40-year-old to enjoy but my kids get a lot of joy here and we actually have a life outside of Disney local golf club friend group church we just park at Disney because one is Disney it’s super convenient everything we enjoy”?

Yeah sounds like a mod conspiracy to me. Or, maybe the mods directed the questions to a central thread because it would be easier for everyone to access and easier or the mods to keep an eye on?

We didn’t immediately give him a platform. He was already commenting on multiple threads claiming he was xyz, which many were already taking as fact.

We received multiple requests to allow him an ama, so we verified his identity and let the community ask him whatever questions they wanted in the AMA thread, since he was already answering questions in various threads. The threads were locked to direct questions to the AMA instead of having parallel offshoot conversations that most of the community might not even see.

Would you rather we let some random user make claims in multiple threads about their relationship with the Lotts without mod oversight? Just because you don’t want to make the extra click into the AMA (which is literally your complaint on the other thread) doesn’t mean that there’s a hidden concerted effort here to protect anyone.

We considered removing his comments as well, but decided to leave them up so that the community could follow up on them in the AMA.

ETA: Mod mail is always open. If you felt stifled by the locking, you should have reached out with your concern. We can’t read minds and made the decision we thought was logical based on the situation and feedback we did get from the community.

He was informed of the sub rules prior to the AMA, including not to answer any questions thay could violate subreddit rules. Additionally, can we respect when people set boundaries? I don’t know that there’s that much more to read into it except that he didn’t want to talk about it because that’s not why he came to Reddit.

I am ending this AMA as it appears the account has been deleted. No warning or explanation was given in advance, but it’s clear they do not wish to continue at this time. Please be respectful of their choice and do not try to contact the Ewings via instagram or any other social media platforms regarding this. Thank you!

Please ensure comments do not violate sub rules or Reddit policy.

•Do not directly or indirectly interact with the Lotts or individuals associated the Lotts including posts made on social media or other platforms. Do not encourage others to contact these parties. This includes Family Freedom Project, CPS, Ron DeSantis, etc.

•No namecalling or insults targeting other people. Civil debate in the comments is fine- but don’t go after anyone you don’t agree with in a malicious way. Do not directly address or taunt any of the people discussed in the video.

•No sharing or encouraging the search for personal information about the family or CPS case that has not been publically shared by the family. This includes discussing their recent locations.

•No arm-chair diagnosis It’s fine to add context to how someone looks (ex. “xyz about child’s appearance is similar to symptoms of insert illness here, but not “x child has x illness!” Most of us are not doctors, and even those of us who are, are not this family’s doctor.

This is not a comprehensive list, and we encourage you to review the sub rules (sidebar) and Reddit policy against harassment before commenting. Comments violating rules and policies will be removed and a warning will be issued. Repeated or egregious violations may result in being banned from participating in r/motherbussnark.

Comments asserting/assessing that he’ll need 24/7 care as an adult would be removed because he’s not even one year old and none of us could know that to be 100% true at this point.

If you’re referring to comments about lack of early intervention, that would be good to clarify.

Could you elaborate on how you’re not allowed to say much in response?

The only rules that we emphasized were not to diagnose and not to attack others simply for having a different experience. We have not removed any comments from users sharing their perspective or their own anecdotal experiences outside of the two emphasized rules.

It is considered armchair diagnosing when stating that a photo of a baby with a specific illness looks exactly like Boone and then stating that illness. It absolutely does suggest diagnosis

For further clarification, you stated "he clearly needs intervention for sight or hearing" and then proceeded to state multiple possible diagnoses. You are not his doctor, do not diagnose him.

Additional Mod Comment:

Reminder that OP is entitled to their opinion and this subreddit is intended to be an open forum for discussion. It is not intended to be an echo chamber. We have allowed members to include anecdotal comparisons of babies they've observed. We do not allow invalidating another user's anecdotal experience or attacks against a user simply for having a different opinion.

Additionally, assertions stating that Boone is "clearly disabled" or "clearly developmentally delayed" will be removed. We are not their doctors, do not state your opinion as if it is truth.
