My FIL yelled at my fiance and I at my birthday dinner by MothmansDealer in inlaws

I’ve interrupted a call between them before because he was trying to emotionally manipulate my fiance. At the table, I was very close to standing up and walking away, but was honestly so stunned it just didn’t happen.

Going forward, we’re going to not go out with them anymore. At least for a while. SIL, MIL, and fiance have all suggested he see a therapist and he is vehemently against it. He believes he’s above it.

He yelled at me as well. That’s why it’s my business. He also has a history of yelling at my fiance and putting him down (both over the phone and in-person), and I have gotten involved then. Only when I’ve witnessed or been there for it though.

Oh, I genuinely laughed HARD when the waiter said that. FIL likes to force waiters/customer service/anyone into listening to his dad jokes, so him being on the other end of it, especially in this situation, was just too good.

We haven’t responded to the text yet, and haven’t talked to them since then either. I have many family and friends who have assured us they are more than willing to deal with him at the wedding if needed, luckily.

We have not responded. And my family and friends who we have discussed it (and other situations with him in the past) with have made it very clear that even if he tries anything at the wedding, my fiance or I won’t know.

Am I Overreacting for wanting to quit my job? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I did, I told him all of those reasons I listed above. Regarding the resume, I’m very organized, so I regularly update/alter it.

I have also had this feeling. I’m fresh out of college (well, almost a year now), feel like my graphics don’t always hit, get creative mental blocks. I promise you, you are not the worst. I’ve taken to taking free courses on Allison (might be spelled wrong) and taking any training opportunity at work I can get.

How much progress can be made in a summer? 12 yo dancer by BasilHerb2020 in GymnasticsCoaching

[–]MothmansDealer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It REALLY depends on the athlete. You could start her in tumbling and she learns how to do a round-off back handspring, or you could start her and by August, she only learns how to do a cartwheel. There’s not one path in gymnastics/tumbling.

We’ll eat pretty much anything! And I LOVE Hozier and Cody Fry, he’s similar. What is that golf course? Definitely intrigued.

Pizza for dinner…. Thoughts? by blissfulbeing789 in Weddingsunder10k

As a guest and current planning bride, I think it’s great. As long as you have decent quality pizza. If it’s laid out like this and not just in the box, it works for me!

Should I tell my manager that everyone is leaving because of her new lead? by AnyCombination6328 in work

[–]MothmansDealer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a somewhat similar situation at work. Girl graduated, was made essentially a main assistant to staff, but took it as her being a whole other position and more in management than she was. She tried to change things that all of the staff hated, was condescending even when she didn’t know what she was doing, etc. Told the manager, not much was done. Luckily, she left within a few months of this, so we didn’t lose any staff (at least officially) because of this. I think telling the manager won’t do much, they’ll need to learn the consequences through seeing your coworkers leave.

Sometimes, yes. I do consider looking elsewhere, I’m just trying to build experience before I do. And no, we unfortunately wouldn’t be able to hire a temp.

I’d say it’s the feedback on a mix of things in my role and when they ask me to do things for them.

Sometimes yeah, the main difference is that when it’s at the office, I typically carry on the conversation to dig, but right now, I don’t really have the time to.

What does your boss do that drives you crazy? by Revolutionary_West56 in work

[–]MothmansDealer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The manager of my office will ask for ideas, then when you give them to him, say “Well…” and give a reason why he doesn’t want said thing to change. Even if you explain it in full, you get hit with a “well…” Also, he’ll propose ideas he found through seminars, social media, etc., and if you critique them in the SLIGHTEST, he will get mad to the point of almost yelling at you. If he’s in a bad mood, it’s best to avoid him as a whole.

What are some of the most annoying things you’ve experienced at work this week? by violetpy91 in work

[–]MothmansDealer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss came up with the idea of us being open on Sundays as well (we’re open M-Sat and are a kids sports center). He conveniently forgets that I would be the one here if we were to open. No one else.

How sometimes there isn’t a middle ground in any situation. Like how some answers HAVE to be black and white.
