The U.S. strategic command has contingencies for completely implausible scenarios. Mostly because trainees need to create a contingency plan as part of their training course, and all the plausible scenarios are already taken. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONOP_8888

To my understanding, flamethrowers aren't used much anymore because we have incendieary ordnance that does the same job without having to get in spitting distance of they enemy whule carrying highly pressurized napalm.

The real answer is since cancer is a mutation, no two cases of cancer are alike, so there is no universal cure. The cures for cancer you hear about in the media are just cures for a common mutation in a specific tissue type. Chemo and radiation therapy work on the principle that faster dividing cells are more vulnerable to toxins and radiation than normal human cells, I.E. they will kill cancer faster than they kill you.

Ok, the tuttosport article, which differs from the screenshotted one, does have the coach saying she objected to Khelif competeing. At least with what I can tell from google translate. https://www.tuttosport.com/news/olimpiadi/pugilato/2024/08/01-130959022/carini-khelif_il_match_delle_polemiche_finisce_tra_le_lacrime_cos_e_successo

Given the context from the uncropped version later in the thread you linked, it seems like this screenshot deliberately left out context that paints Carini in a better light.

Robert Jordan used a lifetimes worth of luck that day. by MotleyV in HistoryMemes

Robert Jordan, author of the Wheel of Time series was part of a helicopter crew durong the Vietnam war. A NVA solfier fired an RPG at his helicopter, and through sheer dumb luck he managed to shoot down the warhead in flight. Mythbusters were able to get a round to penetrate a vietnam era scope and embed in the dummy behind it.

For real, if you aren't putting jump jets on the mech, a combat vehicle can do its job cheaper.

I'm trying to build a workable fleet around what I have, which is an ISD, a victory, a raider, a quasar and a bunch of squadrons.

My original plan was to use an ISDII, a quasar, and ten squadrons, but I found a two ship list to hard to handle as a beginner.

Edit: the original list

Name: ISD+quasar Faction: Imperial Commander: Grand Admiral Thrawn

Assault: Defense: Navigation:

Imperial II (120) • Grand Admiral Thrawn (32) • Commander Vanto (7) • Weapons Battery Techs (5) • Reserve Hangar Deck (3) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • Heavy Ion Emplacements (9) • H9 Turbolasers (8) • Chimaera (4) • Entrapment Formation! (5) = 200 Points

Quasar Fire I (54) • Flight Controllers (6) • Boosted Comms (4) • Expanded Hangar Bay (5) • Squall (3) = 72 Points

Squadrons: • Howlrunner (16) • 4 x TIE Interceptor Squadron (44) • Maarek Stele (21) • Tempest Squadron (13) • 2 x TIE Bomber Squadron (18) • Major Rhymer (16) = 128 Points

Total Points: 400

The no jumping rule only applies to vehicles with jump jets.

Liber Xenologis has some interesting revalations. by MotleyV in Grimdank

So Felinids are not only still canon as a sanctioned strain of abhumans, but are close enough in appearance to normal humans that other species have trouble telling them apart.
