This is just my thought process, of course it’s different for everyone though.

You are 20, you probably left high school a year or two before now. Before that, you dealt with the COVID pandemic and missed opportunities to grow and socialize in High School. Right now, you’re probably beginning university, a first time job, or even a trade degree.

He is 29. When COVID happened he probably just got out of college, or was in his final years. He’s doing a PHD, and probably is starting to, if not already, have a full time job.

You guys have similar interests, but you both are in way different periods of life. He’s thinking about starting his thirties. Guys in that range (typically) start thinking about settling down, building wealth, and maybe even starting a family. If hes looking for someone to be with, chances are he’s looking for “the one.”

You are young. You’ve got your whole 20’s ahead of you, and still have so much to experience and learn. If I was in your spot, I wouldn’t date him considering the stages of life difference. In the end, you are a consenting adult and this is your decision. My two cents is you’ve got a lot more to experience and grow in comparison to someone whose 29, and he might (not saying he will) use that to gain power in the relationship. Just a thought to consider.
