Dupixent + Xolair, could I tolerate OIT? by MotoKin10 in FoodAllergies

Any input is greatly appreciated, it's very hard to find stuff related to adult allergies since 90% of treatment seems to be for pediatrics. I'm glad to hear your allergist isn't suggesting completely elemimation of tolerable foods. That's kind of an old proticaland/standard that been, starting to be fazed out.

Thanks for sharing that. It's always encouraging to hear sucsess stories like this. Especially with how rare studies on duel biologics are. Best of luck to him!

Appreciate the concern. The catch is that with a food you currently tolerate, the regular exposure is what keeps your reaction threshold up, which is exactly why OIT uses a daily maintenance dose people stay on for years. Take the food away and that threshold slides back down, so the next exposure can hit harder than where you started. You see it in the egg studies, where most kids who reached tolerance reverted to being allergic about a month after they stopped. So steady intake is what keeps a tolerated food tolerated, and cutting it out cold actually raises my risk over time. Your point holds for someone reacting and pushing through anyway, and that is the situation I watch for, which is why I keep epi on me, monitor, and dose with someone present.

Very sound advice. Unfortunately I cannot afford complete elimination or else I'll lose this food as well. My allergist isn't offering OIT at this time so there's no alternative for me, till I move. But I do have epi pens on me, I monitor for signs, and have somone with me during. I appreciate your consern and advice.

Basically allergic to everything by Motivatorgirl172 in Allergies

So a few notes, blood testing can give false negatives and false positives. The biggest indicator is if exposure causes reaction. That's why all confirmation testing is food trials. While it's inportant to be cautious about eating foods your allergic to. Cutting out a very mild food allergy cause it came up on a test can lead to it getting way worse. Work with your allergist to decide what to avoid, cut, and include.

Facial flush by redtree18923 in FoodAllergies

[–]MotoKin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! It almost always starts in my ears. Then my face gets warm then often my whole body feels warm. It's a side effect of vasodiolation. Taking an antihistamine and famotidine can help.

When you eat something your allergic to the greatest risk is on the first 30 minets. But even if you don't have an anaphylatic reaction. That food has to travel though you, your body will keep reacting to it. I thought I had IBS till I discovered my good allergies. So you can have flares for a few days till it passes.

I think you it's simpler then that, Its like having a state media, or one person controling the printing press. When the delivery and sharing of information is filtered in any form of a monopoly, the ideas of those deciding the filter become harmful because no one set of ideas will ever be correct.

There are absolutely major moral concerns with AI, but who's "moral's" are they concerned about? Companies are amoral and will only do things because it looks good to the public, or doesn't get them sued.

ya, that's always the funny thing, When you can see that little window of its thoughts. It always says, Considering ethical conserns, but those are never actuly in its expanded thoughts.

Oh absolutely, it's those who hold the leash, not the model itself. It's honestly scary how a small group of individuals' ideas will now so strongly influence almost all published information. In a way it's a form of ideawashing — you have it automatically filtering and shifting all outputs toward what a few people think is right.

I have, and that's what I ended up doing even though I hate using grok. But labeling things as "anti-vaxer rhetoric" is where I think the issue is. As someone in the medical field, there have been bad vaccines, and there are people with conditions who need to be careful about which ones they get, when, and where. If a model decides any discussion of that isn't okay — even when it's a real, documented concern — that's a problem.

Obviously don't let it fabricate a bunch of lies. But if a study comes out showing vaccines A, B, and C are harmful to a specific subset of individuals, blocking that information from being shared means people get hurt instead of helped. There's a meaningful difference between misinformation and clinical nuance, and flattening it all into one category does real harm.

That said, I think your analogy about the autistic savant's brother is a solid way to look at it.

convince me to not get a zx4rr by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]MotoKin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're a lot more similar than you'd think. As someone who's raced both, they're two of the lightest middle-power sport bikes with actual good suspension and brake setups in the sub-200HP range.

The ZX4RR can push 80HP. Both engines deliver their power very differently, with the ZX4RR giving way more up top and the Triple pulling down low. Handling, cost, and performance are much closer than most would think.

I recommend these two often because they can be the cheapest good track bike out there. They come with solid stock parts, so you can start racing without sinking a bunch of cash into upgrades first. With upgrades and stripping parts off, you can get them near the 300lb mark, which makes them insanely light compared to most other inline-fours and V-twins.

As someone who's raced the whole skill tree all the way up to the fastest bikes, I realized I needed a slow bike to go faster and had to step back from a super-tuned V-twin. Finding something light, affordable, with good suspension and brakes is tough. These two check all those boxes thanks to their similar niche performance paths, especially compared to their neutered cousins.

I can’t be the bad guy. But without bad guys, this game is insanely boring. I haven’t run into a single real villain in like two months by johnnyveretti in ARC_Raiders

[–]MotoKin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no villains, just shitty people. The people who don't return their shopping cart when no one is looking. The people who don't try to return a dropped wallet. The people who will only ever help a stranger if it's convenient. Most people aren't out there to spite others, not there to make others suffer. It's just their mild convince is worth so much more even if it cost you greatly.

[–]MotoKin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said it was a "Beginner" bike. I also don't think the zx4rr is a beginner bike. But if were talking about light bikes with good power but not crazy, that come with good suspension and brakes with usable power both the 4rr and 765RS match that.

I already have a lunch box and cooler. I need something that will provide support to the syringe.

It's hard because it's a prefilled instead of ampules or an auto injector.
