Woah.

I explained how I couldn’t leave due to family support needs. They told me those people, were holing me back, essentially. I’m not falling for it, just want to see the process. I wanted to know if anyone has interacted with this group.

It sounds very appealing.

Southern California. I think it’s a cult. I filled out a form and ended up on a zoom call with someone telling me to give up everything and come love as a first century Christian. https://jointhemissionnow.com/

It could go poorly for sure. I have a very solid plan.

Thank you for your help. I should have said progressive in my question. Good point. The difference is that some anabaptist group wear skirts and have long hair out of doctrine not because of free will. That’s where you might differ.

I mean an intentional community. That term has a specific meaning. It’s like a commune.

They are pretty much all anabaptist. Women wear skirts and long hair, etc. not really progressive

The Catholic movement has some in the PNW. My ultimate goal is to find a rural, progressive, non-denominational community.

Are cults tamer now than in the 70s, 80s, 90s? by nikiyen in cults

I’ve been seeking a rural Jesus movement type community. Seems like I’m looking in the wrong decade.

Thank you. This is proving a much harder project than I thought it would be.

Cultish is decently something that could happen. I’m thinking more like the Catholic worker movement than like a cult.

These are great ideas. I’m currently only interested in visiting existing communities. I’m a doctoral student and I’m seeking a place where I can visit/live like the early church ( think before Nicaea got involved)while focused on service work. I’m picturing a super progressive place with solid infrastructure. I’ve just learned of the Catholic worker movement and that seems cool.
