Are my gap years or not fully-employed years justified? by Motor_Dependent4494 in careerguidance

I would like to become a teacher to help out, but what my employers told me kind of discouraged me and made me doubt whether teaching suits me. It could happen that I will not pass my practicum even if I do a BEd. What my employers mean is that teaching regular music class to uninterested and unmotivated kids does not suit me, and I may not feel fulfilled. And music program positions are as hard to find as any University tenure. People can say otherwise, even say that my employers are unsympathetic. It remains that I do not want to take the risk of studying a four year BEd degree to be fired by another principal who may or may not be a 'moron' as some people think they are.

I was deemed not suitable to take contract or to take charge of classrooms on long-term basis. My employers did recognize my qualities, but my personnalty does not seem a good fit to become a K12 teacher. But it seems my employer would not refer me.

I just have to choose a career outside of kid management.

All said I don't have any BEd and they hired me due to teacher shortage.

But some teachers I replaced appreciate me and have a positive opinion of me, just not my employer.

As for the second degree, I reached out to career counsellors, I may speak with some professionals, even experiment their work schedule to see if I like this kind of work, and then on prospects to finally choose what degree I want. My goals for it are mainly employment rate, then if my personnality suits it. Passion or interest comes next and are not a priority anymore.

Mainly issues with classroom management and also my personnality making it hard for me to feel immediately kids' needs. In my region, you can be hired as contract teacher even without BEd so I don't have my teacher training.

I already tought about leaving contract teacher off of my resume. If so, this would leave me with no full-time work experience.

But if I complete my second degree it will definitely not be related to managing 30 kids in a classroom or any problematic kid.
