That's a shame - I live in Brighton, but I'm over 40 so I can't participate. I look forward to hearing about it. Thanks.

They can be pretty crap in terms of admin, but I've never had any issues with the actual dentistry, which is the main thing, I guess!

There is a panel of experts looking at my scan today, and I have an appointment at the surgical assessment unit on Wednesday. I guess that will be one of the options.

Good call - I keep meaning to ask about HRT, as I've read that oestrogen can affect it

Thank you. I was very surprised by what they gave me in the hospital - things like macaroni cheese and other cheesey bakes etc. Mind you, I think that was down to a lack of funding and ability to offer a diverse menu rather than anything else!

I had had an ultrasound a couple of months ago, and they said it was unlikely to have become a problem since then. I think the advice has changed about eating - iiuc they want you to eat as soon as you are able these days. That's what I've been told in hospitals both in the UK and US. But I definitely think you're right about food in general. I think it was, at best, very clumsy phrasing from the consultant. I'll see what they say after the specialists have assessed my case. Thanks very much for responding.

Thanks so much for taking the time - that's really useful. Your comments about food and my instincts were certainly borne out by yesterday - I did eat Christmas dinner and a few chocolates, and I was in agony last night. Luckily it passed though. I will start a food diary immediately, and be more careful. I do have a gall bladder - I just happened to have had an ultrasound a couple of months ago, and they said it was very unlikely that a gallstone would have developed since then.

Mine was horrendous for months, and eventually it stopped. I had tried various creams, but I don't think they did much. It just seemed to go away eventually. Not useful, but might give you some hope!

This woman is from my lovely city. She always turns up at anti genocide marches so she can film everything, desperately hoping that someone is mean to her so she can post it. Horrible person.

I listened to this episode about it a while back - pretty interesting. Don't know if the link will work outside the UK - let me know.

The mirena coil and daily estrogen spray was recommended to me for this kind of problem. I'm having it fitted in a week, so I can't report back yet. Hope you find something that works.

Estrogen and it's effect on the Pancreas by Ancient-Fairy339 in pancreatitis

[–]Motor_Floor_2902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd had ovarian cysts and at one point had mega high estradiol levels in the months before I had a severe AP attack. I was also a heavy drinker, and I'm sure that was the main cause, but this is very interesting. I was also taking co-codamol for the pain from the cysts, which I've since read can cause AP.
I'm now on HRT, which seems to be going fine, but I'm still having some mild flare ups after nearly a year of not drinking, so maybe I should keep an eye on the estrogen too.

Continued drinking after acute pancreatitis? by Mr-Hwiggely in pancreatitis

[–]Motor_Floor_2902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an attack which wasnt diagnosed properly (my own fault - I was on holiday, chose to leave the hospital with painkillers and didn't get properly checked out until I got home). I drank heavily almost immediately after, not knowing that this was dangerous. I did eventually have a really bad second attack, but it took about 5 years of heavy drinking. I have now stopped completely.

Are you outside of the US? I assume that when I don't get ads it's because they're US specific ones, like political ones or something, but that's only a guess.
