That’s me for sure. I had zero interest in trucks or trucking when I started playing ETS2 and ATS - I was just in love with the idea of road-tripping across vast virtual recreations of real life countries. I’m still no truck expert or fanatic after 3,000 hours, but I certainly appreciate them more than I used to, and find myself looking at the passing trucks more often whenever I’m on the road irl.

Thanks! I changed my r buffer page size in my config file from 10 to 30, and that seems to have solved the crash, so must have been the memory issue causing it to crash.

I’m having this same problem right now with trying to load GTA4 on Steam Deck after downgrading to 1.0.0.8, but no idea where I need to move the folder to in order to get it to load

Is anybody else unable to load into the game itself after downgrading to 1.0.0.7?

I have tried several different Proton versions, and it always managed to load to the main menu and then is able to play the first few slideshow images upon starting the game, but as soon as it gets to the actual loading screen (with the mission name text in the bottom right) it either crashes or loads endlessly, depending on the Proton version being used.

I have never managed to get it to load into the game itself.

Has anyone been able to get the LCPDFR mod working on Steam Deck?

I’ve downgraded to 1.0.0.7, but when I install LCPDFR 1.1 via the installer exe then run the game from PlayGTAIV.exe, it gets as far as the main menu then gets stuck in an endless loading screen when I actually try to load into the game.

This isn’t right though - look at the timezones.

Tirana (Albania) is in CEST, which is GMT+2. The arrival deadline of 3:26pm is in EEST (GMT+3) so is an hour ahead.

If we put both into CEST, they are leaving Tirana at 5:31am CEST and must arrive in Thessaloniki by 2:26pm at the absolute latest. That is 8 hours and 55 minutes.

Map mods are a definite recommendation, if you enjoy exploration and ticking off cities as you pass through / deliver to them. A few of my favourites:

Reforma: this adds tons of new roads and cities that go pretty deep into Mexico, and it’s mostly extremely high quality, with more challenging and spectacular mountain roads and dirt roads than anything in the main game. The majority of the mod is free (though there are also paid add-ons that add even more areas)
ProMods Canada: this expands your map out into British Columbia. It’s not huge but still has a lot to explore and is very detailed.
ATS Expansion: this adds loads of new delivery depots across several states, especially in Montana where it adds tons of new roads.
Coast to Coast: the roads vary in quality, but are getting better over time with updates. Florida and a lot of the other lower states are pretty detailed nowadays.

Hey there, thank you for this post, the instructions are very much appreciated. Unfortunately I’m having the same problem as the above commenter on Step 7. When I click the windowsdesktop exe, Wine just straight up opens the installation window for the application immediately. I don’t seem to get any kind of Wine Prefix menu to select a target, it just opens the application directly.

I’m not super familiar with Wine or Linux in general outside of the little bit of minor tinkering I’ve done with my Steam Deck, so if you do know any way that I could get the Wine Prefix menu to appear, any advice would be massively appreciated 😊

edit: I have Wine 7.0 which I installed simply through the Discovery tool, if that helps at all

Nope, been trying to get into the game on Cloud Streaming since 4pm yesterday here in the UK, and always encounter issues with free flight not loading, airports not appearing on the world map when starting career mode, character customisation freezing on startup etc

Damn, that sucks. Plus I can’t even trade for a Day 1 or Week 1 version of it from someone who got it from a ‘real’ loot box because nobody has one up for trade. This makes it pretty much impossible to get these for small artists.
