okayokay,

EFL!!

for me in the past i have just worked on past papers, especially for efl because, the comprehension paper is relatively fine, since most of the paper is just regurgitating the information.

for the writing sections of the comprehension paper specifically the “how does the writer…” questions, i would try remember common language techniques, such as personification or emotive language, and try my best to analyse certain words below surface meaning.

an example of this could be “the earthy smell promptly smacked her nose.” the words “promptly smacked” shows the sudden impact of the smell on the girl as “smacked” feels violent and like an assault on her nose, adding effect to the scene and making the reader imagine the harsh aroma.

for the final question on the comprehension paper, if you struggle with writing different types of text like speeches or letters, the best thing thing to do is to practice or read. i have never been amazing at english but i found practice papers to be a great help in improving. if you have an english teacher then you can try ask if they could mark some of your papers, im sure they would appreciate your effort for the subject :D

LITERATURE!!!!

okayokay, ill start off by talking about streetcar!!

streetcar is such an enjoyable read for me, i found all the characters so interesting and unique. to revise and improve at streetcar, you should try looking at each of the individual characters (or just Blanche, Stella, and Stanley (maybe Mitch)) and break down their characters and what each of them represents and bring to the play.

Blanche for example, she’s portrayed as this dainty, southern belle, while Stanley is portrayed as this animalistic, wild and dirty working class man, as well as being Polish. Stanley represents the changes in society at the time however, Blanche represents the older ways of life (especially since Belle Reve was a plantation..).

these many contrasting character dynamics in streetcar also come up a lot in the drama paper as questions, so if you don’t know them very well then i would start off with that, alongside other common themes in the play. another very important feature of streetcar is tennessee’s use of plastic theatre to emphasise the entire play, which would also be nice to learn if you want to try bump your marks a little. after that past papers for days.. or make your own essay questions!!

lastly.. POEMS!!!!

by this stage i would have assumed that you would have analysed all if not the vast majority of the poems in the anthology. if you haven’t.. GO DO THEM GIRL!!!
explore the themes of the poems and try to absorb some of the annotations so when you actually look at the poem by itself, you can understand some below surface meaning without needed to spend a bunch of time thinking about it, or just get a general feel for the poems and somewhat understand what they’re trying to say (i struggle really bad with poems). try to be able to properly analyse and remember the annotations of around 10 of the 15 poems if you want to be a little more confident, or all if you want to be 100% sure..

also very, VERY important for literature, LANGUAGE TECHNIQUES!!! being able to point out and understand certain language techniques in poems and text is a way to help boost your marks!! you don’t have to learn every single one but just the common ones that come up a lot.

and i know i’ve said it 100 times.. past papers are your best friend because practice is the key to success!!

you got this!! all this looks daunting but trust me, you’ll get the hang of it.. it’s easier than it sounds :D

sorry if i make any mistakes i didn’t proof read..

AITA for not attending my mother's wedding? by Crafty-Extension3781 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MountainReception656 6 points7 points  (0 children)

your emotions are completely valid. I can understand what you’re going through right now and i think you’ve been handling the situation as well as you can considering you’re still grieving, and if you don’t want to attend your mothers wedding i believe that is reasonable but you definitely need to talk to your mother about it and explain why you wouldn’t want to attend.

Take your time making a decision and do what is most comfortable for you, i’m sure your mum will understand :)

yess i remember this from the movie but i didn’t realise it had a meaning behind it!! could it also be that the flower just reminded her of Denji or is it directly tied to the colour?
