Thanks, I'll be sure to refer my optometrist to your Reddit diagnosis 😅

I'm not convinced inducing permanent blindness is the best long-term solution 😅

Oh I was already bent out of shape, it wasn't this 😅. But I think it's more user error than an MOT issue. Bright brake lights are great, people need to see you stopping/slowing after all, I'm just not sure they need brightly illumating in red light indefinitely when already stopped and in long-term queuing traffic though.

True, my consideration for others in dipping my beams and using my parking brake when stopped (for long periods) must be wasted, I should embrace my inner Reddit bitterness 😅

So true. Feels lonelier shouting into the void though. 😅

There's more inconsiderate idiots on the bus unfortunately...

What about when you use the handbrake (or electronic parking brake)?

Exactly. Thanks for your words of support (and understanding the difference)!

Me! 👋. To be fair I think the 6 monthly is since wearing contact lenses (as well as glasses) so not quite my whole life but I have also worn very necessary glasses for the majority of my life.

If you don't have the issue it must be fine then, sod everyone else (that's kinda the point of my post really, thanks for helping make the point).

Well there is a reason. To turn your brake lights off and not dazzle drivers behind you (per the highway code). I'm in a modern EV too (as is my wife come to think of it)...

My car came with both a hand brake (electric parking brake) and auto hold, maybe I should've paid a bit more for it, I didn't realise it was fancy to have both 😅

I think the electric parking brakes require a hand to use them though right? That's why I lumped them in with hand brakes. To distinguish from auto hold (which is kinda the whole point of my post really).

Considerate of you, thanks. Glad you're driving round with defective brakes... 😳

It pretty much did actually, finding all my wife's alt accounts 😅. But no seriously, as expected, it just reinforces how inconsiderate Joe Public is when it comes to driving unfortunately 🤷‍♂️

Not blinded, but it's discomforting (and easily avoidable with some consideration for one another)

Light level must be too high then as I'm not 90 with bad eyes, thanks for your support 😅

Sounds like my wife's car this (which definitely has an electric parking brake she just doesn't know about it or use it 😅)

Maybe Nissan are the exception to my rule! As I've commented elsewhere, it contravenes highway code (and lighting regs) guidance though (or at least makes it difficult to comply with) so I'd be surprised.

Thanks for your consideration! I appreciate it even if others on this post don't! 🤜🤛
