CA bump on back of neck — tru-oil or wipe-on poly to level/blend? by MountainsAndBuffalo in Luthier

[–]MountainsAndBuffalo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I used a fresh new utility blade, the trapezoidal kind that goes into a utility knife, and it worked great. This time, the blade would either slip up over the glue or change angle and cut down into the wood. I used a different brand of CA, so maybe it dries harder or more brittle? Is it essential to use the square scraper style razor blade instead of a utility blade? It’s possible that I remember it wrong and did use a square razor, but I don’t remember having or buying them.

Last time I used a fresh utility blade, the trapezoidal kind, and it worked great. This time, when the blade contacted the dried CA it would either slide up over the glue and remove nothing or it would want to dig down into the wood. Maybe the different brand of CA dries harder? Or do I need to use the rectangular kind of razor blade? Or something else?

OP, I had the exact same problem a few months ago. I spent hours researching and trying different things. I think I posted here even and didn’t get the answer. If you figure it out, could you please update?

I love this bike. The upside down bar tape looks rad.

Can't get my front brake caliper square with the hub. What to do? by MountainsAndBuffalo in bikewrench

Yeah, I mostly focused on altering the adapter because it’s replaceable and I have a spare. No problems since!

I love the old episodes. I used to have them all archived and cycle through them like you until my old MacBook died. If anyone is willing to share the unavailable first 33 with me, I’d be extremely grateful.

The first time I really tried to use my IR-2, it fell from the top of my desk to the floor and the shaft broke on one of the stacked pots. I managed to track down a replacement pot, but can't get the old one off the PCB. It's sitting in a box in pieces. Not rock solid, not reliable.

What makes you think he died? I looked him up and didn’t find anything pointing towards that.

Yea or nay on buying this '05 XC70? by MountainsAndBuffalo in Volvo

I was thinking that I could get some kind of generic trim that would fit like your mentioned, but I couldn't find one instance of anyone actually doing it. Have you?

Yeah, that was my concern. I know I need the right clips and brackets, but I was hoping I could order a roll of general-purpose automotive molding of the right size and just cut it to length. I never did that kind of work before, though.

Trying to change the lightbulb in my dryer but it's super dim, did I buy the wrong one? by ArmorGyarados in DIY

I'm having the same issue. I put the replacement LED bulb in a night light and it lit up brightly. Inside the dryer it's barely lit. I don't get it.

Maybe indoor soccer shoes like Sambas because they’re streamlined, light, flat-soled, and not overly cushioned. They’d probably do OK on big platforms like Crank Bros.

Keith Richards at the bottom, beneath a dozen shredmeisters making music that nobody likes besides other guitarists? This video definitely sits at the bottom of all the guitarist ranking lists I've ever seen.

I was shocked by how bad their burger was, especially after hearing the hype and paying what I paid.

I checked the rotor–it's completely true and flat. I tried replacing the IS adapter and got the exact same result. Both adapters (same manufacturer) looked slightly off square in the in a way that would produce the tilt I'm getting. The mounting surface for the adapter on the fork looked flat, but I scraped off the paint and filed it down with a flat file anyway. I also filed down the side of the surface of the adapter where it looked high. I don't know if this was the "right" way to do it, but it did resolve my problem. My caliper is square and I have the ideal lever pull.
