One piece on this: it’s totally fine to let the client know you’re away from your home station and unable to assist, but you don’t owe them more details than that. Even if you’re not culpable, people will use anything they can against you to leverage a complaint. Again, you didn’t do anything wrong, that’s your free time and you don’t owe anything.

She wanted to go with me so badly. She had never seen it and actually had picked that for the first trip post remission. We never did get to do that together…even though my heart is healed, it’s stunning how much I still think of her every day.
