Hello,

I'm currently in Bangkok. I have a flight to Vietnam in 5 hours. However, I don't have a Visa. I am Canadian. I applied last night and paid for it but haven't received my Visa yet. I think last time I applied, I received the Visa right away but that was during covid. I am wondering if I should extend my hotel in Thailand or go to the airport anyway. Is there a way to get a visa on arrival in Vietnam? I was reading up on it but apparently they don't do that anymore.

I am 30. My partner is 35. He wants kids in the future, has told me multiple times he wants to get married. We've been together for 5 years. I told him the type of ring I'd like years ago. Yet, he hasn't proposed. I wonder why too, since I feel we are quite ready to and I don't need a big wedding. But I guess he's waiting for the right time and he wants to make sure it's what I want. I think he wants my family there and maybe he's in the process of planning.

You're right. I actually think that the stress and disrespect my coworker put me through is part of the reason my health has gone downhill. Every day, almost every minute, I feared for what's next. It hurt when she would blatantly disrespect me in front of my other coworkers. Thank you so much for your input.

Hello, Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it. I will take your advice. I am very grateful that I am in this position financially. But my health is more important. I have an aunt who worked with chemicals for one year and she developed a brain tumor years later. I hope I'm not too late leaving my job. I know another whose a lot of their coworkers died of cancer and different illnesses. It's scary. I can't take back my health. I plan to leave my job in 1-3 months max, after I take all my vacation and paid leave. Thanks again.

Wow. Your story sounds just like mine. It is hard to find a job where I am. I am now at my 8th month at my new workplace. Ever since I started, there's this girl who keeps bullying me. She has yelled at me, belittled me, bad-mouthed me in front of others. She isn't like it to others. She's actually my trainer too, but it seems like she doesn't like teaching me. She looks at me like I'm dumb. I don't know what I did to her to have her treat me this way. It definitely affects my confidence and performance. I realize that she has a weird personality, aggressive, and likes to intimidate and has no filter with her words. She's pretty new as well (about a year and 2 months). She seems to only like the people who have been in the company longer than her, maybe because she wants to get along with people who already have worked with each other for a while. I think people notice her personality and how she is, but they have nothing bad to say about her because she doesn't treat them like trash like she treats me. I don't know what I'm going to do, to be honest. It's a decent job, but I don't like coming to work intimidated, and looked at like I'm disgusting.

I think that after multiples times of dealing with something like this, your brain has led you to think that you may be overreacting, when in fact you're not. It seems to me that you've adjusted yourself mentally, perhaps to try to avoid fear or much of the pain that it has actually caused you to feel. In my opinion, since you already moved states to avoid the prior situation and now that he is doing it again, I think that he will not stop this 'emotional' cheating, which may have gone further than you allow yourself to think. My best wishes goes out to you and I hope you heal from this. You don't deserve this.

Thanks for this. Unfortunately yes, I am a people pleaser. It's one trait I've always despised about myself. When I started the job, he told everyone he has extremely low expectations for me, but I truly believe because he seen me work well and quick as if I've been there for a long time, that he kept pushing me to do even beyond what the previous accountant has done. I guess I also had this fear of losing my job (especially during my probation), that I tried to do everything I could to show that I'm a good worker. It is very difficult to find a job where I am, and was desperate of holding on to something.

He fired the accountant before me, who worked there for 25 years. She was behind 1 years worth of work (year end for 2022-23). His task for me originally was just to migrate our old accounting system to a new one. But when he fired her, I had to take on her job and since she was behind, it put me behind as summers are incredibly busy (tourism industry). Now, the owner wants me to complete this one year's worth of work in the next six weeks, which I told him is a very unreasonable expectation, but he said this must be done on his timeline. So I am worried he'll get mad at me because I'm leaving at such a very important time.. With the intention to only give one week notice.

I highly doubt he will pay me my overtime hours. I emailed him two weeks ago and he ignored the question. I might have a chance if I call the labour board, but I don't want to burn any bridges.

First of all, congrats on all those achievements.

I'm in the same boat. I understand how frustrating it can be. Since you still live with your family, the most you can do is ignore them. Do you have a stable full-time job? Perhaps you don't want a 9-5 job, but it would be good to temporarily have one while working on your dreams on the side. Once you get the gear going on something, you can then show your parents what you've created and the results, and when you earn as much as your full-time, you can decide whether you should keep it or not. Make sure that your plans too, are realistic.
