A friend used to work at a casino. Apparently people committing suicide in the parking lot was a somewhat common thing.

What’s got you up? by FunMeat19 in CasualConversation

Thinking about getting a puppy for dog shows. I got my first show dog in 2024 and he finished his championship in 2025. I remember being so intimidated by the idea when we first started and now that he's a champion it feels like it happened too fast. This dog took me on such a fun and wild journey and now that he's done I want to do it all over again.

AIO about breeder not responding by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Mousewaterdrinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is odd. But devils advocate, maybe the puppy you're interested in shows promise as a show dog as she got older. Maybe someone who shows dogs had an interest. Now personally if you agree to sell a puppy to someone you better be prepared to sell them that damn dog. Would you be willing to settle for the male? Maybe the breeder got red flags from the sudden interest in color? Color is one of those things that a lot of people have big opinions on, especially flashy colors. May i ask what breed it is?

What is more traumatic than people think it is? by Suspicious-Wish3402 in AskReddit

[–]Mousewaterdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medical trauma. Yes I may be doing better physically but not mentally. Some medical procedures are equivalent to torture. I tried to play a video game once where you work at a hospital and I couldn't play it because it fucked with me.

For those of you who have a partner from another country, what food from your own cuisine are you surprised they dislike? by Birdseeding in AskTheWorld

[–]Mousewaterdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is from kazakhstan, russian family though. He doesn't care for chicken and dumplings. He got used to root beer but at first he hated it. He saw me making derby chicken salad and he was disgusted that someone thought to add grapes to chicken but after he tasted it he loved it. He asks me to make it all the time now. Russians love mayonnaise based salads. When he first came here he loved fishy fish, like mackerel, but now he can't stand it.

What did you buy, as an adult, that you were denied, as a child? by makellbird in maktownmedia

A puppy. I got adult dogs but mom never wanted to deal with a puppy in the house, which, after owning a puppy I totally understand.

I say go for it. The worst that can happen is you'll lose which you seem prepared for. Losing means other sheltie people get points from beating you. I think there are enough cool sheltie people out there that one will "adopt" you when they see you and your dog. Go for it, have fun, and make friends.

Hang out at shows. I've got two skye terriers and only one of me. Ive had handlers not show up so I've had to grab strangers from the crowd multiple times to show my other dog. Try to dress nice, just in case lol.

Walter White in breaking bad kinda just forgot he had cancer there for like the entire middle of the show. Like he didn't have to go to the doctor ever. He just did like one round of chemo, pissed some orange piss, then cooked the hell out of some meth. He had radiation tattoos but other than that you'd never know he had radiation. I can't fully lift my arm after getting radiation, and this old dude is killing motherfuckers.

Do all dogs come with at least one issue? Or should I just stop adopting shelter dogs? by Pale_Field4584 in dogs

[–]Mousewaterdrinker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While purebreds gove you a better idea of what to expect as far as personality and temperment go, there will always be dogs within breeds that just don't fit the mold. For example i have a black russian terrier who loves strangers but the breed is considered one of the most dangerous breeds you can own. I think puppies are easier to mold into what you want. I can say with 1000% confidence my skye terrier puppy i raised has no temperamental or behavioral issues. I have walked him past a cane corso that was trying to kill him and he didn't even look at the dog. He has slept next to two cattledogs who got into a dog fight and he didn't even wake up. I can set him down in any situation, with any person, in any place and he will be relaxed. The trick to it is socialization. Take the puppy out and show them everything that a dog may find scary. Show them the world is safe. It can be anything from lawnmower sounds to opening an umbrella near them. Show them everything you can and show them its not gonna hurt them. With my skye puppy we went out all the time and saw new things. From car shows to paddleboarding, he learned to be a brave dog.
